Charli has put out the majority of her best music after the 2017 cutoff date, but she still places with her adorable anthem from The Fault In Our Stars. This type of song isn't who she is, but she proves that she can do it as well as anybody.

Nelly Furtado's Loose is one of my all time favorite pop albums. I like her folksy stuff, Try almost made it on to the list, but her sexy phase took about 30 seconds to go from "wait what is she doing?" to "wait why hasn't she been doing this all along?" The call and response club banger Promiscuous is my favorite of the bunch, but Maneater, Say It Right, Afraid, Glow, All Good Things Come To An End, etc... could all fit in here too.

Lights is someone I have loved for years, but still ends up on one of the last lines in any festival. Even ones headlined by Foster The People. Last years' Skin & Earth album really elevated her into one of unPop's elite artists, but Toes might still be her best song. Up We Go would have been another worthy inclusion.

Zella Day's Hypnotic was my jam a few summers back. Not too many people heard it besides me though. And Zella has put out nothing since. :-(

If you haven't ever watched VH1 or taken a History of Rock n Roll class, it might be a surprise to see The Beatles on here. But before they started doing drugs and became the most iconic band of all time, they were the original One Direction. Panties would melt at the mere sight of them. Personally, despite being my all time #1 or #2, I don't really like the "I Want To Hold Your Hands" and "She Loves Yous" of their catalog and think Help! was their first breakthrough into excellence. This opening track on their debut album stands out above the rest too. Still so very catchy and romantic.

I forgot to add a 3 song cutoff into the parameters list. Though only one artist was ever going to have more. I won't say for sure that it was Taylor but...….

I wasn't skeptical on Ariana Grande at first. Who is this Mariah Carey sounding chick that has the Donald Trump (lol at that song now) guy on her track? Little did I know that Ari would eclipse her biggest influence by the end of her second album. And The Way grew on me tremendously once I let Ms. Grande in. And honestly if she is dating Pete Davidson then don't we all have a chance?

Roar is such a great anthem. Who doesn't get pumped up when listening to it? And Katy is so fine in the video. Glad she did a scantily-clad jungle theme instead of some type of Million Dollar Baby thing as the lyrics would suggest. #JealousOfAnElephant

I hope Demi is getting better. Her old songs are still so so good. And the song is of course very relatable since we have all had an unrequited love.

Carrie is right on the border of country and pop. If I had any plans whatsoever to do a country list, I might have excluded this. But I probably never will, and am not even sure I could come up with a top 50 lol. And Before He Cheats has definitely made its cultural impact as a pop song. I can still picture Stewie singing it lol.

Carly has to be the all time greatest one hit wonder. Call Me Maybe is great and all, but she really found her calling with the sounds from the Emotion albums (and Cut To The Feeling). A shame so few people have heard them but I always pop and start singing this every time, much to the embarrassment of my male friends.

Before He Cheats and Roar are great, though I think Perry has several other better songs

Roar is very weak lyrically, but it has her best production behind it.

My favorite Avril song is actually Take Me Away, but I thought that leaned too far away from the pop side. I was more than happy to pick between this song, Sk8er Boi and I'm With You. In the end, MHE wins because its just more iconic for me, popping up during my high school years rather than middle. The hook is a banger too. Head and club.

All The Small Things is probably my most controversal choice since by all accounts it is a rock song. Anyone who was there knows what kind of impact this song had though. The video, and TRL, made it into a pop song. I couldn't even fathom making the list without it.

It was tough to pick from Robyn's incredible Body Talk album. On first listen Indestructible was my favorite and Dancing On My Own is definitely her defining pop song. But Hang With Me actually helped me understand girls better along with being a infectous tune.

I am surprised Hold Me Down did not have a proper video. I remembering hearing her for the first time live, as she opened for Metric (yay) and Imagine Dragons (nay). I'd say 4/5 opening acts you've never heard of are "fine" at best, but every now and then you make a discovery like this. I went, listened to the album and was blown away by this song about turning your problems into art, along with many others from Badlands.

My love for Against The Current goes deep, this is known. This is the only time they've used the violin so far as I recall, but it is so well done. Every one of their best songs sound so different though and thats part of their appeal. And of course the monster hooks, which AYAW delivers without breaking a sweat.

My favorite Perry song is probably The One Who Got Away, but I like Hot N Cold, I Kissed a Girl, Ur So Gay, Waking Up In Vegas, Teenage Dream, California Gurls, and Last Friday Night more than Roar as well. In retrospect I'm a bigger fan of her than I thought at the time
