A companion thread. NOTE: as evidenced by the conversation in the other thread, there can obviously be a grey zone between SOLO ARTIST and BAND. (Nine Inch Nails is chiefly one man in the studio. Hard to know where to begin. Off the top of my head; Paul van Dyk, DJ Tiesto, Armin van Buuren, Moby, Mylo, Com Truise, Kavinsky, Gnarls Barkley, Phil Collins, Madonna, and Otis Taylor. I've probably missed some.

Gnarls Barkley is two men: Danger Mouse and CeeLo Green. Moby would be respectably in my runner-up section. He has released a lot of great albums: Play, 18, Hotel...
