So happy for another top 10 for Morgan Wallen. And SZA and Olivia, good week for up and coming superstars in the top 10.

I’d barely heard of her until last Friday when her debut single took the world by storm.

She is like a cross of Lorde’s sound/production and Taylor Swift’s storytelling songwriting

It's actually a pretty good song.

And apparently #1 here in Holland too, once again showing how out of touch I am. :funny:

I listened and it sounded like a rip of Lose You To Love Me. Is it about another famous person? Can't understand why it would be such a sensation.

Kind of a like a Regina Spektor type song meets Lorde. Surprised it's #1

Is reddit artificially propping this song up? I really don’t get it.

And that has nothing to do with the song itself.

Oop and there goes Morgan Wallen’s career.

I will still listen to him but it seems he will struggle to get a major label contract or radio support for the time being.

I feel like musicians can come back from big controversies more than others. R Kelly had several hit albums in between the sex tape scandal and sex slaves scandal, people are still putting up with Kanye, Kid Rock is more popular than ever, etc...

The only time I can remember an entire fanbase just dumping an artist is the lostprophets scandal, which involved raping babies. It’s hard to know that then listen to lyrics like “wake up, im so tired of waiting, its time for us to make a move” and not barf.

Being anti Iraq invasion killed The Dixie Chicks career. That’s an exception, most artists come back, but it’s not guaranteed.

Eh... Taking the Long Way, their album following that ridiculous scandal, was still a big success. Its sales were only around half of Home (selling 3m I think), but chances are the Home follow-up album was going to drop off some anyway given its status. They also won 5 Grammy Awards with the album, including three biggies (Record, Album, Song).

They didn't do much since then of course, and while I don't know their history that well afterwards, I'm under the impression they were close to scaling back their careers anyway to focus on their family and personal lives. The country music stations and fans were the only ones that decided to shun them.

And I have no idea who Morgan Wallen is.

Blinding Lights is going up to #2 this week and POSSIBLE going #1 after the super bowl, on its 62nd week inside the top 10.

Fucking legend

Does the superbowl performance put Blinding Lights over the top next week?
