Re: Lady Gaga - new single on 9/9
Love Parker. But knowing Gaga this could turn out to be crap. Good thing she's not hyping it.

Re: Lady Gaga - new single on 9/9
It reminds me somewhat of what I liked about her first couple albums. But then something about her voice distracts me slightly.

Re: Lady Gaga - new single on 9/9
Why is she shouting like Xtina the whole song? Underwhelming song. I can definitely pinpoint a few of Parker things, but overall I would never guess Parker or Ronson had ANYTHING to do with this song if I had to guess. Guess Bloopop (who did the the only terrible song Grimes ever released) and Gaga obviously took the helm at producing this.
It's good she didn't overhype it like her previous releases. The song would fall so flat with much hype.

Re: Lady Gaga - new single on 9/9
A bit disappointing. It's very repetitive, even for today's music scene.
This should have served as a promotional single or something, rather than the first single released off the album.

Re: Lady Gaga - Perfect Illusion
The song sounds good on a good sound system though. Her vocal delivery (which can also be described as unnecessary shouting) is the biggest problem. It's too distracting. The video is a total non event. Like a video you do for a 4th or a 5th single.

I like the song and have confidence the album will be better than the Artpop era.

the album's pretty great. Dancin' In Circles, Diamond Heart and A-Yo are all killer.

Re: Lady Gaga - Joanne
Really feeling this! A good mix of her more emotional songs about relationships, death or BLM(?), but throws in a few of her classic sex songs on too

Re: Lady Gaga - Joanne
It's a listenable album, if unspectacular. The thing that bothers me the most is that every track screams "FAKE! FORCED!" to me. Right at the get go she sings about go-go-ing for a hundred or two. Girl, we know you were filthy rich from the start and went to private schools. Don't pull that "real life" shit with people who really had to sell their body for probably $10 and not even a hundred or two. The same feeling goes for every track on the album.
She always wanted to be a rocker/alternative chick. That was obvious. That might be the music she always wanted to do the most. But it doesn't feel natural for her. And the way she acts now on stage and in videos. It's hilariously bad. She just can't pull it off. It's even worse than Swift dancing.
But this is much better than FARTFLOP at least. She might put out a decent album in the future I guess.
It's also amazing the team she got to work on this album and she managed to make their contributions so unrecognizable as unless you know who worked on what song, you'd never be able to guess by yourself. Way to devoid the album of any personality. She probably didn't want to be overshadowed by contributors and in the final production/mixing or whatever stripped it all, but it didn't pay off.

Re: Lady Gaga - Joanne
I think it's an unhappy album, not even saying that makes it worse, just that there's some cognitive dissonance when half the songs are supposed to still be up tempo hits. Like the album starts with Diamond Heart which sounds great but is about her being fucked up from her past everywhere but her heart and alludes to being a rape victim etc. The #1 single Perfect Illusion is about someone who's now post-relationship and realizes it wasn't as meaningful as she thought and thus her life retrospectively has been more alone than she thought. Dancin' In Circles could have come off as a female masterbation is dope song, but I don't think it is, there's just enough lines about being lonely or being hurt etc. that make you think the person rubbing it out wants more (like the real person they're thinking about). Then of course half the songs are more up front about their themes such as Joanne: Death, Angel Down, Come to Mama, Hey Girl: Concerns about the world, Sinner's Prayer, Million Reasons: Personal/relationship insecurities

Re: Lady Gaga - Joanne
She just wants to be taken seriously and not as a pop star anymore I guess. Taking into account her most recent remark about Madonna, she's still a spoiled brat with grand illusions of being one of the defining artists of our time. So far she's more like Cyndi Lauper than Bowie or whomever she likes to be compared with.

Re: Lady Gaga - Joanne
Her best album since The Fame Monster. "Joanne", "Million Reasons", "Sinner's Prayer", "Hey Girl" and "Grigio Girls" are all EXCELLENT and the highlights of the album. She really reasserted herself as a credible songwriter with this one after the disaster of ARTPOP.

Born This Way might be an overproduced hot mess, but it's still much better than Joanne.

"Joanne" is so-so. Bit whiny. But it would be good for a Twilight film.
