Okay there are threads on songs and best singers etc. but what is the best album you've ever bought/heard??

For me the clear winner is Jagged Little Pill by Alanis Morissette. Man, this CD was amazing!!

Second Favourite CD is TLC Crazy Sexy Cool.

Definitely Jagged Little Pill by Alanis Morissette, but there a few others that I think are amazing.

Fiona Apple- When The Pawn... (A masterpiece lyrically, and the musical arrangements are incredible.)
TLC- Crazy Sexy Cool (I agree with you here. When this first came out I couldn't stop listening to it, definitely a classic.)
Madonna- Ray Of Light (Her best album ever, and one of my favorite albums.)
Mariah Carey- Daydream (by far her best album in my opinion, and I think it ranks up there with some of the best.)

I'll add some others later.

Ohh Ray of Light is a gerat CD. that Shanti song ( i think number 8) is amazing :D

Another Favourite: Writings on the Wall by Destiny Child and No Need to Argue by the Cranberries.

Yeah, I learned that song by hearts, and its a great song.

I would also like to add...

Christina Aguilera- Stripped (the vocals, the songwriting, the style are all amazing. She definitely broke away from the bubblegum pop image that she was prior to this, and she even did 90% of the writing, and its all awesome. I absolutely love this album. Very personal, and I can relate to almost all of the songs especially "I'm Okay", because I was abused by two of my mothers boyfriends.)

Ohh. I'm so sorry to hear that pink :( :( Some ppl are just so dumb..

Speaking of Stripped though, Dirty is my alltime favourite song. When it came on, i am not joking, but i heard that song about 15 times per day for a good 6 months... It was so amazing.

I loved that song too! It's a shamed it flopped, and didn't do well on the charts. I thought the video was so freaking hot, and so was Xtina in it. I actually used to strip to that song.

Foo Fighters "The Colour and the Shape" is one of the best albums I've heard. Definately the best Foo Fighters album.

Pretty hard choice, as there is so many....and I don't want to say a greatest hits album, cause that wouldn't be fair.

I would have to say Alanis Morisette's Jagged Little Pill; Everything from the writing, to the edge, to the vocals was great.

I would say Michael Jackson's Thriller comes in a close second. But what's the album without the music videos right? so that's why it isn't my first pick.

ONE??? ONEEEEEEEEEEEEEE???????????

the BEST I have ever heard? Which differs from my favorites (probably something like Madonna's Like a Prayer, or Sinead O'Connor's I do not want what i haven't got).

But if you're asking for best I'd probably go with something like Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon, or The Wall.

and you got this figure from where? i'd like to see it in writing by someone who would know. Verbal promises mean nothing. Remeber Avril back in the day when she claimed she wrote all of the song on "LetGO" the matrix almost brought her to court. i would say 60% is more accurate. (yes i know. I have heard the album.)Sadly i own it (i dont know why)
sorry that you were abused

anyways my favorite albums of all time are
"Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie" - Alanis Morissette
"Tragic Kingdom" - No Doubt
"International Superhits" -Greenday
"A Rush of Blood To The Head" - Coldplay

This is a toughy but I think I know what to pick.

It would go between these albums:

Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
Led Zeppelin - IV
Led Zeppelin - I
Rush - 2112

And in the end it would come to be Led Zeppelin's IV that is the best album I have ever heard.

Well she co-wrote 13 songs, and wrote 2 songs all by herself, I think that's pretty impressive. The other 5 tracks were written by other people like Alicia Keys, and Linda Perry, and the two interludes were by Christina.

Only a couple of these are true albums, though. In my book, an album isn't something that just has 12 singles put together. In that case, I'm kind of restricted to concept/genre-exploration albums...

I'd in the end go with something like The White Album, as I love every song, but it doesn't fit my description (well, maybe genre-exploration, but there's no real OBVIOUS (say what you want, Beatle nuts) theme).

This is a toughie.

Radiohead - OK Computer / The Bends / Kid A
Led Zeppelin - II / IV / Houses of the Holy
Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon / Wish You Were Here
Coldplay - A Rush of Blood to the Head
Phish - Junta / Round Room
Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's
Garbage - Version 2.0
Alanis Morisette - Jagged Little Pill
Rage Against the Machine - The Battle of Los Angeles
Red Hot Chili Peppers - By the Way
The Shins - Oh, Inverted World
Sigur Ros - ( )

If forced to choose one, I'd probably go with Dark Side of the Moon or OK Computer, even though Zeppelin is my favorite band of all time.
