Just listened to the new album. After the brilliance of Transatlanticism, I was rather dissapointed on first listen. It's not a bad album by any means, but it's just not uber great DCFC. Soul Meets Body is a good enough first single, nothing compared to The Sound Of Settling, but what is? I do hope it gets better with future listens as DCFC is one of my favorite groups.

I am very looking forward to this. Am downloading right now from links listed on the Death Cab for Cutie message board.

After two listens, I do really like the album, but not immediately as much as Transatlanticism. The lyrics are the best of any album released this year so far, and I especially like Gibbard's death motif. Now I have to see if this album grows with more listens.

I'll Follow You Into The Dark is my favorite as of now.

The album is growing on me though, I need better quality though.

This album has grown on me tremendously since I couldn't stop listening to it the last couple of days and it is now my favorite album of the year (and exceeded Transatlanticism). I like all of the songs including I'll Follow You Into the Dark. I am even more impressed by the lyrics now that I've read them, and also really like the maturity of the music now (Someday You'll Be Loved reminds me of Eric Boudon's House of the Rising Sun).

took awhile, but Plans has passed The Bravery as my favorite album of the year. It really does require a lot of listens. First few times around you don't notice the brilliance of Crooked Teeth and What Sarah Said. The first songs are the ones that stick out the most, but the 2nd half of the album may just be the better half.

On a side note, Soul Meets Body really needs a video on MTV2 or something so Plans actually stands a chance at going gold or platinum.

Plans definitely takes many listens to appreciate. And it doesn't get tiring, as I've probably listened to it 20-30 times already. Too bad there are so many middling reviews of the album by critics who probably only listened to it once or twice. This album is a lot less mainstream-sounding than their last album, so it needs every attention it can get.

I also think the second half may be stronger than the first, although I find Crooked Teeth to be one of my lesser favorites on the album, even though it will be the second single.

I guess the video for Soul Meets Body has been sent to mtvU, but who even has that channel?

It's a good album but it falls wayyyyyyy short of Transatlanticism which is always dissapointing.

But that was going to happen no matter what they put out. I don't think it was possible to make another Transatlanticism.

But I don't know hehe. It's still better than pretty much anything that's come out this year, but I do think they could have done a better job with it.

i actually like it.
i thought id be dissappointed.
and yes, it doesnt reacht he heights as transatlanticism.
but personally, i like we've got the facts and we're voting yes much better than both.
plans is more catchy, faster paced and i find myself to really enjoying it.

brothers on a hotel bed is my favorite song.

did anyone notice that the stable song shares lyrics with stability?
