I know, I know. No one likes Dashboard. I'm not a fan, either. It's just one of those songs that kinda gets stuck in your head and won't let go. Eventually, you get used to it and start gaining a liking for it.

vindicated got stuck in my head. i even [gasp] liked it for a couple weeks. but even that got old. chris is just a washout who went to my highschool and i dont think hes all that grand.

Nor do I. Just that one song, heh.

He went to your high school? Just outta curiosity, was he popular? Or was he known 'round the school as a suicidal and overly sensitive and emotional guy?

Cobain's solo's are sloppy. And not a good sloppy like Jimmy Page or Jimi Hendrix, but a crappy sloppy.

I still like them, especially in Smells like Teen Spirit.

Richards rules anyway.

nirvana is sooo way overrated. they're decent but certainly not legends like everyone makes them out to be. it's all because kurt cobain blew his brains out that they get more credit than they deserve.

I hate it when people say that Nirvana killed the 80s hair metal scene. Guns n' Roses so killed it when Axl Rose put his hair down and when Appetite was released.

i have to agree. nirvana gets credit for way too much. they are so overrated. if kurt cobain hadn't blew himself away they'd be just another alternative band.

(What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love, and Understanding - Elvis Costello
As I walk through
This wicked world
Searchin' for light in the darkness of insanity.
I ask myself
Is all hope lost?
Is there only pain and hatred, and misery?
And each time I feel like this inside,
There's one thing I wanna know:
What's so funny 'bout peace love & understanding? Ohhhh
What's so funny 'bout peace love & understanding?

Wonderwall - Oasis
Today was gonna be the day but they'll never throw it back to you
By now you shoulda somehow realized what you're not to do
I don't believe that anybody feels the way I do about you now
And all the roads that lead you there were winding
And all the lights that light the way are blinding
There are many things that I would like to say to you
But I don't know how...

Sexx Laws - Beck
I want to defy
The logic of all sex laws
Let the handcuffs slip off your wrists
I'll let you be my chaperone
At the halfway home
I'm a full grown man
But I'm not afraid to cry

Hotel California - The Eagles
Mirrors on the ceiling
Pink champagne on ice
And she said
We are all just prisoners here
Of our own device
And in the master's chambers
They gathered for the feast
They stab it with their steely knives
But they just can't kill the beast
Last thing I remember
I was running for the door
I had to find the passage back to the place I was before
Relax said the nightman
We are programed to recieve
You can check out any time you like
But you can never leave
*begin kick ass solo*

Everybody Knows - Leonard Cohen
Everybody knows that you love me baby
Everybody knows that you really do
Everybody knows that you've been faithful
Ah give or take a night or two
Everybody knows you've been discreet
But there were so many people you just had to meet
Without your clothes
And everybody knows!

English Girls Approximately - Ryan Adams
Tall drink of water, she's a Norfolk waterfall
Little daybreaker, she's a shootin' like a cannonball
Crazy like a rocket when you're coming through my radio
Kept me in your bed till the wintertime turned to fall
Fall time coming, and I guess my little bird can sing
Come on Elizabeth, a come on a Bethany
Come on further, I'm tired and I want to sleep
My little dove do, and I guess she was done with me
Said you didn't love me, it was right on time, I was just about to tell you that it'll be alright
Said you didn't love me, didn't want a thing, English girls can be so mean
But ohh, look at you now
Ohh, look at you now
Mmmm, best I've ever seen
Just a tall drink of water, just a-pourin' on down the sink

Carress Me Down - Sublime
Me gusta mi reggae,
Me gusta punk rock,
Pero la cosa que me gusta mas es panochita,
Ponga la nalga en la aire if you know who you are,
Ponga la nalga en la aire y empieza gritar,

No tenga miedo, Im your papi,
take your chones, y les mandan a mi,
levanta, levanta, tienes que gritar,
levanta, levanta, tienes que bailar.

The Only Living Boy in New York - Simon and Garfunkel
Half of the time we're gone but we don't know where,
And we don't know here.
Tom, get your plane right on time.
I know you've been eager to fly now.
Hey let your honesty shine, shine, shine
Da-n-da-da-n-da-da-n-da-da
Like it shines on me
The only living boy in New York,
The only living boy in New York.

You've Got a Friend - James Taylor
If the sky above you should turn dark and full of clouds
and that old north wind should begin to blow,
keep your head together and call my name out loud.
Soon I will be knocking upon your door.
You just call out my name, and you know where ever I am
I'll come running to see you again.
Winter, spring, summer, or fall, all you have to do is call and I'll be there.

Maps - Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Wait, they don't love you like I love you *1018338291918292

OMG Torri you rule. LC is in my top 5 favorite singers of all time. He gets alot of loving from me in my list, probably 4 or 5 songs in the top 100 just from him. Cohen is just so good. I'm glad you like him too.

I didn't give anyone 4 or 5 songs. The Rolling Stones, Radiohead, and The Beatles each got 3 songs, though. And Wilco, Prince, Aimee Mann, Simon and Garfunkel, and others got 2 songs.

My mom's friend used a Leonard Cohen song in a play she co-wrote (which was suppossed to play in New York, but then another group created the same exact play and now there's a lawsuit; I think the other one played in New York - It's based on Dan Rather and is called "Kenneth - What is the Frequency?"), and because fellow librarians get along so so well and tend to be uber generous, my mom brought home the I'm Your Man and Ten New Songs discs. I think I like the "Ten New Songs" disc better, even though Everybody Knows and Take This Waltz are from "I'm Your Man".

I like him about as much as Bob Dylan. I think Cohen's wittier (and you can see the humor in the song I chose, heh), but the monotonous tone sometimes conceals the humor.

How's his new CD?

Also, I know there are some Jews that enjoyed the Passion, but, there's very few. I don't know Cohen's religious stance, but, I found it kinda odd that he contributed a song to the Passion soundtrack.

'Course! It's on one of my greatest hits cd's...either vol. 2 or 3.

Come gather 'round people
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown
And accept it that soon
You'll be drenched to the bone.
If your time to you
Is worth savin'
Then you better start swimmin'
Or you'll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin'.

Come writers and critics
Who prophesize with your pen
And keep your eyes wide
The chance won't come again
And don't speak too soon
For the wheel's still in spin
And there's no tellin' who
That it's namin'.
For the loser now
Will be later to win
For the times they are a-changin'.

Come senators, congressmen
Please heed the call
Don't stand in the doorway
Don't block up the hall
For he that gets hurt
Will be he who has stalled
There's a battle outside
And it is ragin'.
It'll soon shake your windows
And rattle your walls
For the times they are a-changin'.

Come mothers and fathers
Throughout the land
And don't criticize
What you can't understand
Your sons and your daughters
Are beyond your command
Your old road is
Rapidly agin'.
Please get out of the new one
If you can't lend your hand
For the times they are a-changin'.

The line it is drawn
The curse it is cast
The slow one now
Will later be fast
As the present now
Will later be past
The order is
Rapidly fadin'.
And the first one now
Will later be last
For the times they are a-changin'.

When your old man had let you down.
Like a fool, I fell in love with you,
Turned my whole world upside down.
Layla, you've got me on my knees.
Layla, I'm begging, darling please.
Layla, darling won't you ease my worried mind.

The only hotel songs that are worth their weight in gold are Chelsea Hotel #2 and Heartbreak Hotel.

It's country.

WEll Clapton wrote the song about Patty Boyd.

Boyd was married to his best friend, George Harrison (yes that one, of the Beatles). Hse and Harrison were not having a good marriage, and she ended turning to Clapton, and he fellin love with her, He wrote teh song about locing her and not being able to have her. Boyd eventually left Harrison and went straight intot he arms of Clapton.

She and claptone ventually got married, but als there marriage did not work out.

Clapton and Harrison remained the best of friends and referred to each other as husband-in-laws.

When you hear the orginal version, you can hear the desperation, the passion, the love..in the voice of Clapton.

It truly is a great song.
