Guess it took me a month to realize everyone left box office mojo lol. I think you could add Magnus and loyalfromlondon to the day 1 list if they hadn't deleted their accounts? |

I remember online gaming with Tony, bABA, Mata and others, playing Left for dead, Gears of war and Halo 3. Damn, Tony must be a retired police officer now, he was already one for almost 10 years 20 years ago. I remember bABA had written a book before he left, and Loyal traveling the world and letting us know all about it. BKB being the biggest troll of alltime and even Loyal got to meet him and posted the pictures, bkb looked exactly like we all thought someone like him would look, lol. |

I believe there was another from BOR on these forums. I missed the memo about the BOM exodus because by then I had stepped away a bit. It was Baumer who told me where folks had gone. |

I was feuding a lot with Maverikk when I first got here. There was a type of big ego middle aged man that seems to have gone by the wayside online since the 2000s sadly. The way people post on a forum like this or on another old forums is way different to me from today's "redditspeak" or twitter posts. It's like a different language. I visit some other forums that are 15 years+ old and they're all living off people who got into the internet a long time ago. I prefer the old style all day personally, but I guess that's life. |

I agree, the old style was so good, you could just chat about life and the like, forums felt like a real community. But times evolve, it went then from facebook to twitter and now tik tok, twitter being the worst imo, i wonder how its gonna be in another 10 years. |

Jesus that BoM days were over 2 decades ago. Kudos to 20 years. Definitely a unique bunch of people on here but it's nice to be part of a small community. |

You're spot on. I was part of the first genuine online boxoffice forum, during the 1990s. It was run by Time Magazine and it was called Pathfinder. They eventually created non-boxoffice forums because you're right, people wanted to talk about other things (life, politics, sports, etc.). It was a great community. It was where yours truly coined the term 'multiplier' within the context of box-office tracking. It's a term I used when teaching college econ but obviously there are parallels to boxoffice trend analysis. It's been used since then. Anyway, theforce.net was another "community" in every sense of the world. It still is. Then Boxoffice Reports forums, then BOM and now BOT and WOKJ. Good times. We're a small bunch but I like you guys. :-) |

Love this place and have never been ashamed to be one of the last ones hanging on. The peak was The Dark Knight opening weekend. Let's be serious. That might be the peak for all internet geekdom. |

That might be the peak for all internet geekdom. Your comment got me looking at some of the milestone box-office threads. They were epic. TDK: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=20436&hilit=dark+knight Avatar: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=20436&hilit=dark+knight Endgame: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=85523&hilit=avengers Excel, you were the man back in the day. haha In terms of metrics, impressions and new visitor stats, it was Corpse's Japan boxoffice thread which is making a big impact in recent history. In fact, I believe it is the best source for Japanese boxoffice tracking - anywhere. Trade publications and websites traffic to that thread, no doubt to pull info. |
