Better than my 2015, and I see that as a win.

Pretty good, personally. Slight improvement over 2015, though mainly due to income.

Was OK. Some good things happened, some bad. A lot of celebrities died.
I'd say the Cavs winning the title trumped everything bad. So 2016 gets a thumbs up.

 Re: How was your 2016?
Personally, I had a good year. Two more books released that I edited, a new one coming in a few months, latest novel finished, successful at my legal job, still happily married, etc etc.
I was also a bit of an internet sensation for a few days after the Hodor episode. Got a lot of publicity out of that one.
However, it was a crappy year for the world, with the election of the most incompetent and undeserving person ever elected to the Presidency despite a majority of Americans rejecting him.
2017 should be even worse.

Truly excellent. I was in a production of Les Miserables, I graduated high school, finished my first semester of school at West Chester University, finished my Eagle Scout, made lots of new friends, had lots of new experiences, and even though Trump has great potential to be a crappy president, at least Hillary didn't win.

 Re: How was your 2016?
It was not so great. I felt half shut down this year to the point of feeling too disconnected to stay up on film and television or other artforms, etc., Unfortunately having an emotionally unavailable father who I've never impressed or caused joy once in my life (yes, it is a cliche) is a poison in me that I felt more than ever this year, probably due to relatively aimless job status. I moved to the right city for me (Victoria) and I got to see my grandma and aunt more often this year who I had only met a few times in my life before which I'm happy about.
Romantically the love of my life so far got scared off and shut me out years ago because of depression, etc. issues and some mistakes I made trust wise. After years of not talking we became in contact over the internet over a few years ago which has taken a few forms, but she basically went from 100% shutting me out to 90%, the communication is sort of an online equivalent of the Diving Bell in the Butterfly guy writing a book by blinking, she can't even directly write to me but can respond in varying degrees of yes or no. I should probably give it up but it is hard to give up on love when she loves you back and things would work out so well if she just got over the hump. I met someone else that I had the 2nd strongest immediate reaction in my life but I only met her for 5 minutes and then made inroads on social media with some hints that seem encouraging for how she feels about me, but until I give up hope on the first girl I don't know if it's the right thing to do

Next year has to be better. My new writing style though already makes me a bit happy!

Eveyone who has been to the Water Cooler over the past four months probably knows my answer.
If not: it was the shittiest year of my entire adult life. That being said, I must add that I haven't really had any bad years before, so...

It sounds..vague. Also, have you done/thought about therapy? You sound like a good candidate to really benefit from it. I mean it in the most inoffensive, professional way possible.

 Re: How was your 2016?
Most years I try not to label as good or bad. But last year was definitely a wasteland. I especially felt what Shack was describing about not feeling as connected to film, music, etc (ironically I broke my record for films seen in a year in 2015 but that had a lot to do with my writing gig).
I'm not surprised this year wasn't the full recovery that I hoped, but it was at least unpredictable and a hell of a journey. It still feels like I'm running from things I shouldn't have to at this point, but I got away from where I was living last year and spent most the year in Seattle. I then started my first semester of grad school and, to my surprise, passed all my classes.
I know no one here pays much attention, and I've really just been an odd lurker here for a decade now, yet only started an account in 2013. I guess this has always been a people watching thing for me, so I don't mind.
FWIW, in terms of current events, this year has been notoriously ghastly but I would definitely say 2014 gives it a run for its money with Ebola, ISIS, the drought at its worst - and for the sheer volume of star deaths this year, I don't know if any of them were as shocking to me as Seymour Hoffman and Robin Williams that year.

 Re: How was your 2016?
Tiring. Put a lot on my plate, without getting as much gain for it as I wished, hope it's a good set-up for more. Some good things, some bad things I guess. Put it in my mind that it wasn't a good year for world events, but also that I've found the movie slate so far (haven't seen a lot of films yet) a bit disappointing. Personally it's not so different than any other year, just going through the motions pretty much. Don't feel I've regressed though either. And pretty much like every year, I should make the next one better.

 Re: How was your 2016?
Difficult and frustrating. I'd say if you have a pet then get insurance.
The only good things that happened were my family surviving another year and Trump stopping Hillary.

Can't really top 2015 (had second kid and saw the company getting acquired by Google), but an uneventful year is always a good year. Having the family healthy and seeing two kids growing up each day are all that matter to me right now.
