 Are they a friend?
If someone invites you to get togethers like parties, but never to do anything casual like hang out, see a movie or go out, are they really a good friend?

Nope.
You're merely part of the group. You make up the numbers, and after high school you'll never see them again. To become more than just "one of the group", you would have to improve your social ranking within the group.
