Post Since when do they say rough air
during flights instead of turbulence?

I was just on my first international flight with an American airline (Delta), and I don't ever remember hearing this before.

Found is sounding odd.

Anyone else notice this?

This just reminds me of George Carlin's many, many routines on euphemisms and the perversion of straight and direct language. Is "turbulence" too big a word to use? I think we all know what turbulence is. Meanwhile, rough air sounds like it could be something one experiences after eating Taco Bell.

It's a modern thing where pilots are trying to re-brand themselves as cool.

Have pilots ever been considered un-cool?

Pilots are respected but they're certainly not cool. Most are middle-aged men. That alone usually means they cannot be hip or trendy.

Pilots also use to say "smoke em if you got em" and had in flight competitions on who had the longest knife.
