A lot of you have announced in Karl's thread that if push comes to shove, you are wiling to donate money to keep WOKJ afloat. I am hopeful that a fair amount of the costs can be covered by ads, but let's put that aside for now. Basically - if it comes down to it, who of you would definitely be willing to give some money to gie WOKJ going and how much.

If you do not wish to post the number publicly, you can PM it to me, I'll tally the amounts.

Participation is appreciated.

Note to excel: this is not a thread to make any big plans for the main page ;)

Whatever is needed; for the sake of the read I'll donate $100 per year. Could do more, though it will depend on how many Bonchons I open.

I would be happy to donate $50-$100 per year if this plan goes in the direction I am happy with. I would only be happy sending money through Paypal, though, and I'd want to be admin. Also, I would only donate if it remains as it is now, and not if we migrate to Lecter's website. I would imagine that all major changes are fairly decided by all donors too. I cannot think of anything else right now.

There will be no special treatment for those giving donations. That is the only way I enivsion it to work. People are supposed to give the money just to keep WOKJ alive because they like it and not make demands like becoming an admin, a part-owner or whatever. If these conditions do not suit someone, I can understand, but that is the way I think it should be done. As Chippy said - no premium membership. The changes are not decided by the donors, but by those who will oversee the running of the website. However, of course, the changes (and frankly I do not think we should expect many/any changes) would of couse be communicated to everyone (including the donors) and those not happy about the direction can withdraw their donations.

That being said, the foremost plan is to keep the status quo, IMO.

No one, those are suggestions and everything is open to discussion. But at least I do feel responsible.

I can give $50-$100 per year based on how much is required.

$200 per year

Or $20 per month. Whichever is easier.

I'd throw in $100. Only if my demands that Algren doesn't become an admin are met, of course. :giggle:

I would do up to $10/month or $120/year. Whichever is preferable. Though not in September, as that's my wedding month and cash will be tight.

It seems like we have many people willing. I say we all pool our $100 and than divide up whatever amount is left over at the end of the year.

How about we ask how many people would be willingly to do $60 a year (ie $5 a month). I'm down for a $100 if needed but I don't feel like we need that many people to give $100 a year.

No, we probably don't. Unless we do hire an IT guy, then maybe we do. So I am doing this to assess our maximum potential. Of course it will be adjusted to whatever is actually needed once the time comes to pay up.

I believe funding wise we are good enough to do like $5 per month from 9 people and we can get $540m which should be just enough to keep the site afloat minus the technical stuff. Thus I mentioned $50-$100 based on how much is required.

Nom for the start, we need more than $540. Ads will most likely work out and then the people would get their money back, but as Loyal also pointed out before, we should not take that into consideration at the start.

I might be able to donate $5 a month.

I agree for the very start we should not do that but what I also believe if the amount is lesser we can get more people to donate and cover the amounts.

You can put me down for $60.

To be on the sure side of things, we need 16-17 posters donating $60/year. We're at 11 now. I think in the end, way less than $60 will be needed, but as I said, this is to be on the sure side of things and that does not include a potential IT guy.

You'll probably carve out a nice admin title for yourself, though, huh? ;)

Algren,
Donations or not, Lecter is one of the poster who is expected to lead this anyway.
