I normally file my taxes myself online. This year I have some issues that I've never dealt with before. I moved to Illinois from Missouri. I still work for the same employer, I just transferred branches. I received two W-2 forms, one for each state. The problem is the Missouri one shows the total I made for the year and total taxes paid instead of only my earnings and taxes in Missouri. Then the Illinois one shows the total as well but then in the state section only shows the Illinois earnings and taxes. So if I enter both forms as they appear it makes it look like I made twice as much money as I actually did but then shows that I did not pay enough taxes and thinks I owe over $5,000. Anyone have any clue how to fix that?
