Tear gas, rubber bullets were fired. I never saw this in HK when I lived there.

If I #standwithhongkong, am I siding with the Hong Kong police or with the minority of Hong Kong protestors?

Tear gas use was inappropriate. No aggressive behavior by the people.

Protesters and reporters are undeterred by the violence. Bravery.

To protest for a fair election for the head of gov un-interfered by Beijing. Specifically, to demand Beijing withdraw its strict guidelines for the election and restart the constitutional reform procedure. And to demand release of student protesters arrested two days ago (one was released just now on habeas corpus and the other two have a few more hours to go before police have to either press charge or let them go).

Bags of supplies (probably food and water, raincoat and goggles too) are being delivered to the people on the streets

People, chanting in unison, ask the police to leave, or open the way.

I am hoping not. For the tanks to roll in, the HK government needs to declare a state of emergency and make a request to the Chinese government. But I don't know.
