Having two wisdom teeth pulled tomorrow. I've heard nothing but stories of how much it sucks for a few days afterwards. ![]() ![]() |

It isn't to bad. I had two pulled a couple years ago. They give you some fun pain meds lol You just have to be a bit careful of what you eat for a few days afterwards. |

Aw don't worry, it's not THAT bad. I mean, it kinda sucks and you'll be in some pain but...it's an excuse to sit around and eat ice cream for a week. So. Plus at least you're not having all four out like I did. Just don't drink anything out of a straw so you don't get a dry socket. |

Dr. Lecter wrote: Huh? I thought I am supposed to drink out of a straw... NO. NO. NO. Don't drink out of a straw for at least a week. The suction and the air pressure from the straw can easily lead to dry sockets, which are like 50x worse than the pain of just getting the teeth out. |

Dr. Lecter wrote: I just googled dry sockets. Holy fuck. Your dentist should go over all of this with you in detail when you go in. Dry sockets are really easy to avoid, most people don't get them after getting wisdom teeth out. Just don't drink out of a straw, smoke, or do excessive spitting/rinsing the first few days and you'll be fine. |

I read with wisdowm teeth the dry sockets probability is at 20-30%. |

Let's hope so. Usually I am not easily freaked out or scared by doctors, but anything involving teeth always conjures up images/feelings of intense pain. I'm gonna make myself a huge English-style breakfast tomorrow. |

My wisdom teeth getting pulled went pretty well, actually. I was only in pain once (which the painkillers took care of quickly), and I just spent the weekend in bed watching movies on my laptop and studying for a midterm, which went on to be the only midterm/final that I've ever gotten a perfect score on. So yeah, it went really well. |

Dr. Lecter wrote: Huh? I thought I am supposed to drink out of a straw... What? The suction can pull the stitches right out. Certainly do not do that. The people hate it are totally exaggerating. It is annoying but not that bad. I was awake when my two pulled, too. I am a huge pussy, if I can handle it, I am sure anybody can. |

Hope your dentist has nitrous oxide. It made my last dental operation tolerable. Didn't help afterwards, but at least the procedure itself was somewhat enjoyable. |

I had some pain medication for after my wisdom teeth operation, but it made me perpetually hungry as fuck. It also made me realize how much of my diet is spicy foods, because those were off limits due to irritating the gums. |

Okay, so what I didn't mention was that along with the wisdom tooth, I had another tooth pulled as well that was damaged beyond repair last year. Now the wisdom teeth was a walk. It was out in 15 seconds, no kidding. It was a walk. But the other one was a FUCKING BITCH. After 10 minutes of drilling and pulling, they got it out...piece by piece, I think it about 5-6 pieces. Five hours later it is still bleeding a bit. |
