The best part is: It wasn't even racism. I'm also impressed by how ineffectively Oprah dealt with the situation, as if there had been no way whatsoever to convince the girl that she is actually filthy rich...

Honestly, though, she shouldn't need to convince her she is "filthy rich." I am not invested in Oprah in any way, shape, or form, but I am also not a fan of the hired help determining so overtly who is worthy of what level of service. I am sure many people are invisible to this girl, and I am sure she is rude to many people. She just chose the wrong "victim" in this case.

Obviously. I assume there was some kind of misunderstanding, anyway. I doubt Oprah walked in there looking like a hobo, and I doubt a girl working at such a store would be blind to someone's outfit. But if and once said situation was established, Oprah, being the one with superior knowledge, could have handled it a lot more effectively. If I were Oprah, I would have been greatly amused by the story and retold it as a funny anecdote. Maybe her pride was wounded.
