Any of you ever buy tickets? Or win something?

Was just at 7-11 and some guy in front of me in line bought $250 worth of tickets (!). The Powerball is apparently going for $425 million right now.

If you win the 425 mio would you give me something?

I only buy it when it gets up high like it is now.

So I will be buying one today.

Since the odds are about 200 Million to 1, winning is pure luck and powerball tickets are 2 each.

I never understood this logic since the lowest jackpot win of 1 Million would change your life.

Yup or about 200 million to 1 as I said since I had no desire to waste time looking it up.

I hear people walk in to convenience stores to ask how high the jackpots are before buying one. I never understood that either. Is it really only worth your time to buy a ticket if the jackpot is super high? I'd be happy with a million. Buying $250 worth of tickets suggests to me that the person has plenty of money to blow anyway, so what do they need to win the powerball for.

I have never actually bought any lottery tickets myself. Only the scratch off ones, and very rarely.I only do it when I'm in line behind my mom and she buys a bunch, I might buy one of the same ones she bought just to see if I win and she doesn't. I'm about the unluckiest person ever when it comes to those things.

I used to do the lottery for years, every week, two tickets, but after 6 months or a year, I just gave up. This happened a few times.

Seeming that I am more likely to get struck by lightning than win the lottery, I have never played and never plan to do so.

I think the lottery is more a tax on the lower/middle classes than anything else.

A small insight into Algren's psyche. He clearly fled to China to escape gambling debts. ;)

Lol.

But no, I actually hate debt. I've never owned a credit card, never bought a car because I couldn't afford one outright, and I'm not going to buy a house either for the same reason. I hate debt. Having to owe someone and have them think they can overpower/control/threaten/look down on you, I couldn't think of anything worse.

And lottery tickets are cheap in the UK, so there's kind of no way to get in debt based on the routine I posted before. :mer:
