Post Q for Libs
If Idol pulls off Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, and Kanye West as judges...

...would you start watching it again?

I think I'd watch any primetime show with two guaranteed hours of 'Ye every week.

Idol is basically trying to imitate the Voice's panel of judges.

Tough call. I dunno.

I'm starting to find all these shows (Idol, X Factor, The Voice) so exhausting. And I like The Voice a lot, I'm just not sure I can do another go round of it this fall.

I'm curious to see Britney on The X Factor and Mariah, though. Mariah is gonna be such a bitchy diva all the time, especially when people inevitably try to sing her songs.

"Vision of Love" 4 lyf

I don't know if I would watch it with Minaj. UGH.

Except Kanye alone > Adam, Blake, Cee-Lo, Xtina combined

The Voice is SO exhausting because they piece each round out for too long. Five weeks of battle rounds? Meh.

I could care less about Britney. She's not a good speaker and doesn't seem intelligent or thoughtful...or even funny. I don't understand the selection at all tbh

This.

I haven't watched since the first season and I'd def. watch for Kanye. I'd tune in once in a while for Nicki.

Thank you! Someone can be a good singer (or entertainer, as it were), but it doesn't mean they're going to be a good judge.

OK I mentioned it earlier but I was just listening to this again for kicks, and DAMN. This was Mariah's first single ever and it is still her best song. So good.

"Always Be My Baby" is great, sure.

But I must admit I've never heard "The Roof" before, and I'm a pretty big Mariah fan.

i don't know what those are, because i'm on my iPhone, but I hope one of the selections is 'always be my baby'.

my other favs: the 'butterfly' singles (prob her best), 'don't forget about us'

It was never a single in America, I don't think.

'shake it off' is her worst song

she's released a lot of more shit than other 'mega' stars, for that matter: when you believe, one sweet day, thank god i found you, basically most of her 90s ballads, obsessed (lol, this is one of the oddest hits of the last decade for sure)

Oh noooo take that back with One Sweet Day. That song is wonderful and heartfelt, seriously. I'll give you Thank God I Found You and Obsessed.

And I hooooope when you say "most of her 90s ballads," you are not also lumping in Hero. Which is one of my very favorite ballads.

Apparently Nikki Minaj is close to signing.

Eh. Hope this doesn't mean Kanye is out of the picture.

Keith Urban is now rumored to sign for $4m. Which seems low as Blake gets $6m for The Voice.

Too many names have been entered! Apparently Katy Perry turned down $20m. I don't know why there's chatter right now as the season doesn't start until Jan

I adore Keith Urban, he'd be a good choice.

Kanye is way too unpredictable and eccentric to hire for something like this. Also, Idol doesn't even have rappers as contestants.

I don't understand that argument. The best judge didn't sing either! And those that did? Erm, Kara, J Lo, Steven Tyler, Paula...not exactly the best judges.

But Kanye knows his stuff. Your boy Kris saved himself by slightly rearranging a Kanye song.

Plus, he produces lots of R&B stuff too (eg, You Don't Know My Name, John Legend, some Beyonce).
