Best Sound Sound is perhaps the most overlooked element of films. We're generally so focused on images we don't really truly analyze what we're hearing. While its rare for sound to be so bad it has a negative effect on a film, it is very probable for sound to greatly enhance the film experience (particularly when viewing a film in a proper theater). The following films in 2011 had the kind of sounds that were too good for our ears to ignore: Drive Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol Super 8 War Horse Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 And the winner is... |

Best Costume Design One of the greater challenges giving the look and feel to a movie is to find what works for gifted crew without looking like they are wearing a costume. These movies did not only transcended their actors to look beautiful but they also made them look bruised, hurt, mysterious and in few back to the golden era. A daunting task of making the costumes not from an imagined version of olden era but from a known era when black and white cinema revolutionalized the industry - The Artist A beautiful yet modern transformation, design of working women from a very disciplined past - The Help An imaginative adaptation that designs dream like reality into big screen while maintaining a mysterious vibe from an fantasy land - Hugo A historical setup that maintains a subtle difference between maids and regular people while everyone is overdressed - Jane Eyre Complex war designs that bring the brutality of a war blended with calmness and innocence of a miser family - War Horse |

Too bad Jane Eyre didn't win. Way better costumes than The Artist. |
