On dating a co-worker? I'm currently in the process of trying to date this girl I work with, and I was just wondering what you all think of it |

If its just a casual job, and you plan on leaving it, and don't care if you get a good job reference from it (because its not in a field you plan on pursuing, or you're just going to be going to university where highschool jobs don't matter) than go right ahead. But imo, a good rule of thunb. If you're invested in the place for anything more than a weekly paycheck, don't go through with it. If you're just doing a summer job type thing, go for it, but she better be cute. |

Meh, direct experience is highly overrated. Almost everything that's ever comes out of my mouth is theory, observation, or something I read in a book or saw in a movie. I've seen alot of movies were dating in the office goes pretty damn poorly. ![]() |

Before I give any advice - let me be sure that you only talked to this girl and you have not engaged sexual intercourse. *************** Now that is clear - my advice is Do not date anyone at work. There is too much chance of sexual harassment / discrimination. You must realize that by doing almost anything you could be creating a unfriendly work experience. Especially if you are on different levels. And even without the above happening, if you have a fight - it is impossible for it not to spill into the work place and affect things. Then the management / co-workers will know that there are problems which put negatives on you guys. ************* That said - if you know this is the girl of your dreams and you know it is the real thing - Quit your job before asking her out. One bad strike at work could follow you for your life and ruin your career / future work experiences. *************** |

My advice is not much different from DV's above. If this is just a temporary job, go for it, hell do it on the copy machine, do it on the boss's desk after hours. Go wild. If this is a job you are investing in heavily that will be a stepping stone for your future, then no, don't date her, because it could turn sour and you don't want an "Ex" at your work place. Unless you honestly really think this is some incredible girl you could conceieve of marrying, that would trump the reservations. |

Hey, where are you supposed to meet people anyway? Work, school, activities. Why limit yourself? |
