Post subject:  Spears finally lets rip against tabloids

http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/149927 ... lines=true

On her Web site, Spears wrote an open letter to Us Weekly, Star and what she called other "desperate magazines," saying that the scrutiny is not only unfair but hypocritical, since the tabloids don't fess up to their own imperfections. She addressed the letter to "false tabloids" and said their coverage showed they obviously don't care about reporting the truth.

"Your employees are a reflection of your magazine," Spears wrote in her letter. "I'm really concerned about the people you hire to work at your companies. I'd like them to ask themselves the question 'What am I lying to myself about?' Is it that you are 50 pounds overweight? Is it that your children aren't making wise decisions? Or is it maybe that your husband or boyfriend is cheating on you? Until you face what is going on in your life, I guess you'll remain a false tabloid."

Spears' opinion, spokesperson Leslie Sloane Zelnick said, is "shared by many."

Well said, by Spears. I'm tired of celebrities saying "oh well, that's the price we pay for being who we are!". The news media empire is absolutely disgusting, and I'm glad Spears has no problem calling them out on that.

PEACE, Mike ;)

WHYYYYYYYYYYY the hell would people read tabloids anyway?

Are they that obssessed with the celebrity world?

It's pathetic.

And that's the only way to stop it. If people stop reading them, there's no profit in them.

=D>

everytime i try to push that line i get attacked for it; but i think the general public are starting to realise like two years after the media have been trying to pull her down that its not fair to be totally intrusive and tell all these lies about celebrities just to sell magazines. Its the same story with every major star; they get so big that the media starts selling copies by pulling them back down as the public dont like to see people get too powerful. Celebs like Madonna didnt have to face it anywhere nearly as badly as celebs today have to; because of obvious reasons.
I guess if it were Natalie Portman in the same position many people on this site would have a very different stance.

The paparazzi is the worst. Constantly following these celebrities around, and not giving them privacy. I think it is totally unfair because they are human beings just like us. They make up false articles, and its very mean, and its just so they can make a buck. These people are scum of the earth.

Well i know as much as i dont give a damn about what other people think - if i were living a life where that seems to be all that matters it wouldn't be easy. No wonder so many child stars turn into crackheads

Holy hell, don't you people have some individuals in real life to feel sorry for?

I have no sympathy for her, at all. This is not a person worht defending. She has always used the media to her advantage, and now that it doesn't suit her, she turns around and lashes back at them? I imagine she'll be much kinder to them when her next single comes out and she needs the promotion.

Pathetic.

Yeah i wouldn't insult anyone unless i fully understood their situation; the only alternate is to be sympathetic or say nothing at all.

And i didnt realise we were assigned a sympathy quota.
The tabloids have not been kind to Britney Spears for a very very long time; i feel genuinely sorry for her and other celebs in that situation - not because i care about celebrity but because on the human level its a destructive thing. To say that Britney Spears is the sole one seeking publicity when her records come out is very niave - her career from its foundations is based on media manipulation; although probboly not through her own choice. Her record company has alot more to gain offa that kind of shit than she does ;)

Yes it can be very sad and depressing. I don't think anybody deserves this kind of shit.

She idolized Madonna, right? Ok, would she not have known what it would be like to be portrayed as a sexually overhyped blonde with lacklustre talent? If you go into this business, you know you will be dealing with the kind of scum that comes with it. She has known this since day one, and yet she still does one stupid thing after another. She certainly has the freedom to do whatever she likes, sure, but she should not be surprised to see the media go after her for it- it sells magazines, and so it will continue whether she likes it or not. And she certainly likes it when it pays off for her. She already has tens of millions in her bank account, and how much less do you think would have been there without the sexy, raunchy image?

Basically, she has traded her dignity for the fame and glamour. Ok, fine. I have no sympathy for her. At all. Nadda.

Thats your take on it; i could give you a million and one reasons why its a very wrong view on the whole thing; but you could probobly give me an equal amount of reasons why my view on the situation is wrong.

That's right.

Can I offer a point of consolation? Look at how successful Justin TImberlake has been with his image and whatnot. Britney is so much more likeable than he is. I think people have forgotten how cute and interesting she was in 1999/2000. I mean, those music vids and songs were watchable and though corny, yes, it was not bad stuff.

It all amounts to having the right music/attitude. She has relied way too much on one scandal after another to keep her going. That is completely useless. All that has done is to alienate large chunks of her fanbase, and for what? A drunken night in Vegas? That was not worth the effort.

Her last album didn't benefit from the scandals (it suffered from them), it benefited from the music. It was catchy as hell, and yeah, it wasn't so bad.

If she just gets her act together, she could do some good work. I mean, she is not on par with Aguilera in terms of her voice, and is no match for Keyes talent-wise, but she has charisma and is decent enough for entertainment.

And yeah, I was a fan.

It's not about feeling sorry/sympathy for her. Some people are media whores and use the media to their advantage. It's true. She might be one of them.

It doesn't change the fact that people thinking they have a right to go into people's private lives, because they are celebrities or for any other reason is absurd and pathetic.

I agree with that. They are scum. But you know that's what you have to deal with. It doesn't make it right, it just means you will have to face it.

NO she just left 7 kids fatherless

And Aniston? How many children should she have had by now?

And you know, Angelina has been treated pretty shabbily too. Except, she has the UN to counter that, and she's also brutally honest, which is absolutely poisonous to those tabloits. What's the fun if an actress actually admits to having had a relationship with a woman and taking lovers and having contemplated becoming a funeral director? I bet she has confessed to things they never thought of making up. And people wonder why I lover her

Problem with Spears is she's so huge. Even when she does nothing people talk about her. She's taken the position of the necessary blonde sex bomb which every generation seems to require. Oh, and she's much bigger than Madonna was. Back then, there was no internet. There is now.

Thats her job. Shes bloody brilliant at it might i add.
But she should be at least allowed some "privacy"; I mean, 6 years into her career and shes getting fatigued of the baggage thats come with being a pop icon; Madonna dissappeared for a while to remedy it; every time Britney tries to the tabloids stalk her like rabid dogs.

Reporters that want to see everything in somebodys life are *****. Its not there buisness. On the other hand. When you always are talking about your private life (and Mrs Spears did often(sex religion etc...) ) you dont have to be so stupid and think they dont start stalking you.
Is it so difficult to say NO when they asking you something about your privat life????You can honestly say "No just lets talk about my movie,cd,buisness......" But when you start sharing your privat life then you sometime have to give your piece.
