I woke up at 12:30 last night and threw up for about three minutes. It felt like every other hour I had to wake up and do it again. Everytime I try to eat and/or drink something, I just throw it up about five minutes later. Anybody know wtf this is, and when I'll be able to eat again? My step brother has it too. |

Sounds like a serious food poinsoning. In any case, get to the doctor fast, things like that don't end well, if you don't take care of them :???: Are there other symptoms? |

My lungs feel weird whenever I take a deep breath. My back hurts a little, but that always seems to happen to me when I get sick. Never figured out why. How serious is it? |

Hmmm...if that is connected to your lungs (?!), then I am really confused, but it sounds serious. If you keep throwing up, your body gets dehydrated fast, so you have to drink water. Let me check something... |

Okay, well, these are the possible causes of vomiting: # stomach or intestinal infections, such as food poisoning or gastroenteritis # peptic ulcers or gastroesophageal reflux disease # inflammation in or around the gut, such as appendicitis, pancreatitis, hepatitis, or gastritis # blockage in the bowels, such as pyloric stenosis or duodenal atresia in infants, or small or large bowel obstruction at any age # food allergies or lactose intolerance # toxins or medications, such as alcohol, many antibiotics, or chemotherapy in cancer patients # kidney failure, such as acute renal failure # tumors or cancer, which may be in the stomach, intestines, or in other parts of the body # increased pressure inside the skull, also called increased intracranial pressure # certain types of uncontrolled diabetes # extreme overexertion or exercise # migraine headaches And of course there is a good old flu which might cause one to throw up as well |

If your brother has it as well, I would probably rule out kidney failure, tumors/cancer, blockage in the bowels, and peptic ulcers. It sounds most like food poisoning or a case of an acute allergic reaction. Best advice: go see a doctor ASAP. |

Wouldn't the flu be gone by the Middle of March? The weather outside is fucking beautiful, and I don't think the conditions are all that great for influenza. |

But my brother and I haven't eaten anything the same. I don't think. My mom made tacos last night, and there's a chance he might have had some when he got back late last night. But even then, my mom and step dad aren't affected at all. |

Tacos are the classic cause of food poisoning. It was probably the ground beef not cooked fully. Your parents/step-parents may not be affected though. |

The meat did taste really weird now that I think of it. It might be the Kool-Aid. My parents don't drinnk Kool-Aid. And the first time I threw up last night, it had a very red tint, like the Kool-Aid. :-/ |

I say normally you shouldnt run for everything to the doctor. But when you have problem with "extrem vomiting" better see the doctor. You need water and with your symptomes you lose a lot. Better see the doctor so. Here we have really nice people but I doubt they can help in a serious way. Here we can only predict your final vomit score or your daily water drop. So better see a doctor or go to hospital. Sounds like food poisoning. |

I have no way to GET to the doctor though. Otherwise I would have told THEM my symptoms, not you guys. |

Insomniac, yes the coloration may have been red, but here is why: vomiting is essentially empytying the contents of your stomach, usually a natural defense by the body to prevent toxins from either entering the blood stream or from building up in your system. If you drank Kool-Aide which has a great deal of dye in it, then it will cause your vomit to be that color. |

I just talked to my step dad, and he said the symptoms have been flotaing around the house for the past few days. Maybe it is just a bad case of the flu. That still doesn't help the fact that I can't fucking eat anything, and that I won't be able to eat for another day (apparently). |

Nah, flu is around all the time, just in different variations. There are hundreds of different kinds of influenza that exist. |

And I go with Tacos as the cause. No car, no parents at home. Well, get to the doctor as soon as your parents get home. If it's flu, there's no special need for the doctor at first, but if it's a real food poinsoning, you should go ASAP. |

My step=dad recommended some weird Gatorade powder mix, and despite it's not-so-enthralling taste, I'm not vomiting it back up. I've spent the entire day sleeping. I feel dizzy right now, though. |

Insomniac, were you vomiting water when you drank it? I should have told you to at least try Gatorade as it is important to keep your electrolyte balance, something which Gatorade replenishes. |
