Your list rocks! I've sampled some of those places in DC, actually. My uncle (he's the "young" and liberal guy in the family, you would like him ross, heh) used to live in DC. He moved back to Europe a year ago. But, when he did live there, he had this btichin house right behind John Ashcroft's place, one street off the capitol. I'll look for the street on Mapquest, but I don't remember the exact adress. It was sweet.

I had the best Italian food ever in San Fransisco. I can't remember the name of the place, but last time we were there (Last spring break) we stopped in. Fabulous. It's a little cafe in Little Italy, very trendy, clean, and sleek. These two gay guys (Who else?) were the best team ever. The food was superb - orgasmically good! I can't wait to go have some more this spring break.

Well...I don't think you can define whether it's customary or not. After all, most people don't bother cleaning up their own mess, so people can feel free to drop whatever they want ON the floor. Eating out is like a baseball stadium or a movie theater. The food (most often) costs more, but you never have to deal with the mess unless it involves a spill on your own (or someone near you) clothes...

Around here there is a Steakhouse chain called Roadhouse Grill, and they purposely throw peanuts all over the floor. It's a pretty backwards place :razz:

Cafe des Artistes in Puerto Vallarta (fanciest restaurant I've ever been to) Jake's in Del Mar (near San Diego) Jaleo in Bethesda/Washington D.C. Bacchus in Bethesda/Washington D.C. Carvers in Phoenix Stage Deli in New York City Jerry's Famous Deli in South Beach Castaldi's in Cleveland Ben's Chili Bowl in Washington D.C. (!)

Their Reuben was literally as big as those in Carnegie Deli, Katz Deli, or Stage Deli (all in NYC )

Ruth Chris is good, if a bit much...money. There's a nice little Greek place in Bethesda (Plato's Palate). The owner looks like the father of Nia in My Big Fat Greek Wedding. Then again, there's tons of places in Bethesda... TGI Friday's is fun. It's got the right atmosphere, and sometimes, the thing that your tongue craves is just some fried shrimp, chicken, or ribs in barbecue sauce...
