Post subject:  I think I have pneumonia :(

Hello guys

I know this doesn't deserve a thread, but I am just a bit frustrated right now.

Whenever I go somewhere where I have to be at a certain time I usually leave the house a bit too late. This results in me running all the time. Like yesterday, when I went to see The Forgotten.

Running however, makes me sweat and my shirt wet. It is also vry cold outside. So a cold wet shirt sticks to my back for a while. Sometimes nothing happens and sometimes I get sick.

This time I got sick. Very much so. It is hard for me to type this post as my fingers as well as all of my joint hurt. That is because I have Fever over 101° Fahrenheit. The temperature also makes it impossible for me to fall asleep or eat anything. Whenever I even smell food I almost throw up. I can barely walk, I feel exteremly weak. My coughing gets worse with ach minute. Even my eyes hurt. And overall I just feel really bad.

This came pretty much all of sudden as yesterday I was perfectly fine. It might be flu, but knowing my track record, my guess would be pneumonia. I had pneumonia twice within the last 3 years. Once it was in January 2003 and once in April 2002. Both times I needed to spend days in the hospital because it was just getting worse at home despite the medicin.

The feeling I have right now is very similar to the ones I had back then. I can already tell that my tomorrow my fever will be over 102 degree for sure.

What bothers me the most is that though my stomach hurts and longs for food, I still can't eat anything as even when I see food or smell it or just taste it, I feel even sicker.

Back in April 2003 my situation got pretty close to lethal especially considering that I have been evry weak back than as the thing happened only two months after that stomach thing that I had.

End of the rant. :? :(

What the heck is pneuponia. Some kind of Pony disease. But seriously, it does suck. Sorry.

Pneumonia is an inflammation or infection of the lungs.

The lungs' air sacs fill with pus, mucus, and other liquid and can not function properly. Oxygen can not reach the blood. If there is insufficient oxygen in the blood, body cells can not function properly and may die.

:(

Take care of yourself Artur, you should go and rest.

Thanks for the carig words, Cyn. I'll try to lay down. The problem is that my body feels too hot to fall asleep and the headache is bothering me too.

But thank you very much, Cynthia. :)

Doctor, get enough rest and drink plenty of fluid. Flu can get worse before it gets better. You'll be fine and start eating all your favorite foods again.

I hope you get well, my advice is similar to the others I guess. Get rest, take a multi vitamin, drink stuff like juices, and during the hours when you feel better, get a little exercise (walk around, mainly) so that you will retain your strength during the worse periods.

On a lighter note, I applaud you spelling pneumonia right, that kind of thing is rare on the internet, even by healthy people.

Hey Doc, i had a pretty crummy bad case in both lungs when I was 16 because it went misdiagnosed as asthma (I knew it wasn't, no one would listen to me) and they actually gave me prednizone which weakened my immunity system and made it even worse (spread to second lung). Everytime you get it, you become more susceptible to it in the future

*people that don't want to hear remedies stop reading now*
Get yourself on antibiotics if it bacterial pneumonia asap (95% of cases are, only 5 are viral). Also, if you lay on your side and have someone hit your sides to help dislodge and cough. i know, kinda gross, but it works...along with old fashion boiling water and breathing in the steam with a towel over your head. I hope you feel better soon.

Artur, it's nothing to fool around with, so if you feel like total shit, get to the doctor. I had it twice, both times within a few years of eachother, but it's been 15 years since the last time. My best friend has had it twice within the last year, and they found something in his lungs, and they aren't sure if it's cancer, or puss pockets from the pneumonia. Needless to say, the thought of losing the closest person in the world to me, to the same thing I lost my brother, who was the closest person in the world to me, makes me ill to think about. He's only 37 for Christ's sake. He's having a biopsy done on the 24th, and I hope that all it is , is effects from his pneumonia, but you can see how serious the damage can be if that's all it is, so don't try to be a tough guy. Get to your doctor. If you hate doctors like I used to, get yourself a female doctor like I did, and you'll never mind such visits again.

Hello, guys. I just got on for a sec to update this one.

Thank you all for your advices and caring words. Last night it seemed like it was getting better. I got my appetite back and my temperature was down to more or less normal. O even ate some chicken and potatoes.

Well, that was deceiving. Right now the temperature skyrocketed from 98.6 all the way to 103.3 and I feel pretty bad. I haven't eaten anyting since ysterday. I drink a lot, though. Juices, water and lemon tea. Have been taking Paracetamol, against fever and have done what Dolce has suggested too (hot water + towel). However, the medicin does not seem to help against fever at the moment. My eyes hurt and I feel sick the entire day. My stomach hurts because I am hungry, but I can't eat because I have an urge to throw up if I try.

If the fever keeps going up, I'll call an emergency doctor.

Once again, thank you all for your care. Very much appreciated!

Arthur :)

Lecter, since we need you to stay well, here are some tips.

You said - Running however, makes me sweat and my shirt wet. It is also vry cold outside. So a cold wet shirt sticks to my back for a while. Sometimes nothing happens and sometimes I get sick.

I will assume that you were wearing a jacket even though you don't mention it.

- First off, 103 + sounds pretty bad that you should be heading to the doctor.

- But in the future, think about clothes layering - one shirt isn't enough in the cold. You need to be wearing at least 2 so there is a barrier againist the cold and your body.

- Also, I hope you were wearing a hat and mittens as those are the 2 biggest places that you lose heat from your body. ( Please no jokes about head size as I am being serious )

- Lastly I don't know about pneumonia but I know for something like bronkitics (sp) once you get that it becomes easier to get in the future. Also you may have this also.

- Lastly - I would think clear broth soup would be good but I forget if they say feed a fever, strave a cold or the other way around.

G out.

Artur....so sorry man! I was out of town for a day and a half! I hope you get better, but do not delay! Get thine self to aid straight away for it is now beyond your control! Your immune system has been permanently compromised so you must now seek the healing skills of others! (lol..why am I talking like this..hehe)

We need you to stick around mate! Please! :)

Thank you all again.

I had an emergency doctor over last night and the doctor I usually always go to over today. They said that pneumonia is unlikely. However, my situation is not much better. The temperature is over 100 degree all the time, the general weakness is getting worse and yesterday I had to throw up and that for the first time in many years (except for that stomach thing). The stomach ache got somewhat worse and I don't want to go into unpleasant details, but let me just say that I am having a big dehydration of the body. :(

My doctor said today that if it doesn't get any better by tomorrow, I'll need to go to the hospital.

For the first time since the beginning of the whole thing the temperature could be kept under 100 degree for some hours. I hope it'll stay like that for a while. Also, I do not want to throw up anymore. Moreover, I don't feel as weak as I did in the last couple of days.

On the bad side, my headache has gotten much worse and even repetitive taking of painkillers only helped a little. Also the doctor said that I must not eat anything for another couple of days. I shall just drink water, tea, juices and some powder dissolved in water that gives me all the minerals I need.

Overall, I do feel better for the first time since Saturday.
