Ok, I'm sittin' in the library today. It's deathly slow, but you know...I'm surrounded by literature. Go on anyone who wants, I'm going to match you up with a passage of literature that I feel reflects your character on the boards. And if I don't know you well enough, you'll get random incerts from the MLA handbook. 8-[ But I won't tell which is random and which is a conscious comparison.

Whose first? :gun:

this one's easy:

Quote:
...Their business was to celebrate the praises of the gods and valiant men. And the like encomium shall you hear from me, but neither of Hercules nor Solon, but my own dear self, that is to say, Folly. Nor do I esteem a rush that call it a foolish and insolent thing to praise one's self. Be it as foolish as they would make it, so they confess it proper: and what can be more than that Folly be her own trumpet? For who can set me out better than myself, unless perhaps I could be better known to another than to myself ? Though yet I think it somewhat more modest than the general practice of our nobles and wise men who, throwing away all shame, hire some flattering orator or lying poet from whose mouth they may hear their praises, that is to say, mere lies; and yet, composing themselves with a seeming modesty, spread out their peacock's plumes and erect their crests...

In a state of intellectual excitement, I read with fascination the terrible story of Adso of Melk, and I allowed myself to be so absorbed by it that, almost in a single burst of energy, I completed a translation, using some of those large notebooks from the Papeterie Joseph Gibert in which it is so pleasant to write if you use a felt-tip pen. And as I was writing, we reached the vicinity of Melk, where, perched over a bend in the river, the handsome Stift stands to this day, after several restorations during the course of centuries. As the reader must have guessed, in the manstery library I found no trace of Adso's manuscript.
