Never heard of her. She was the main actress in Singin' in the Rain. I admit I didn't really know her before this week either, but she was a major star in her time with lots of lead roles - easily a bigger acting career than Carrie's And not just in films either. She won an Emmy and was nominated for Tony, and had a No. 1 single on Billboard.
