How does this go if it were a bunch of male celebrities? Same reactions (horn-dogs aside)?

Nobody would care if it were male celebs.

While it's heinous they got hacked, JLaw and Upton are well aware of the history of nude leaks and the fact that as female celebrities, there's so much energy and money spent by their teams protecting themselves against the male gender, that this is as inexcusable as if Upton was walking around without a bodyguard and got attacked. No sex crime is deserved but JLaw and Upton still could have been more upstanding role models by intelligently discussing with their team how to store nudes if they want to take them and thus coming upon something like a flash drive stored in a safe or w/e

Is this verified, or just a rumor? It would probably make more sense than it just being a single hacker.

Anyone saying it's the celebrity's fault is wrong. No one deserves their privacy to be breached like that. Of course they should know better, but it's like saying "Well Spielberg should know better than to make any more movies, it's only going to end up pirated."

And I've looked at some of the pictures. But I'm not a good person! I know it's wrong.

It is quite simple. The hacker is the guilty one. But the celebrities are the stupid ones. It is absolutely not their fault, but the actions were still stupid.

But it seems like most of the people here are choosing to focus on the "stupidity" of the celebrities instead of the illegality of the hackers, which leads into a whole bunch of victim-blaming issues.

Perhaps we feel that people can improve on their stupidity...but hacking will always remain.

I don't think guys would act in the same way if their images were leaked. Guys would just be like "Yep. That's my knob. Big and veiny. Enjoy" and get on with their day. But women throw a fucking hissy fit and consult lawyers.

Some of these women will probably now appear on playboy because
1.They will get a paycheck
2.They will have better nude pics of themselves showing a flawless body since in these leaks they didn't have make up or air brushing.

But what if they have a micropenis?

However, getting the FBI involved in this is kind of going over the top. Now we're using our taxpayer dollars to make it slightly harder for Johnny 14yearold to see Kate Upton in slightly less clothing than she is normally in? C'mon now. Have these people never handled a bad PR situation before? You don't just toss money at cops and lawyers, that makes it an even bigger story. Just say it's fake, even if it is obviously not. Then the hackers validity will at least be in doubt. Having the feds take down the pics actually empowers the hackers by confirming their abilities. Most of the pics are faceless, there would have been no way to prove there legitimacy.

But if they don't claim ownership of the photos, how would the law enforcement bring charges against the hacker(s)?

Did the feds get an injunction order to take down the pics? Or did they overstep the line?

seems silly to blame the celebs. we all have shit on our phones that's personal. it's reasonable to expect a degree of privacy through iCloud... and what surprises me is that we're not talking about the vulnerabilities in iCloud that made this happen.
