 Re: The Tech thread
Well, it's only $35. And it's a lot easier than having to turn on your XBox/PS3 if you just want to watch Netflix/Youtube.
It would actually be a really good idea for me, as it would just give me another option and sometimes I don't want to wait for my PS3 to update.

 Re: The Tech thread
I bought it too. Should get it on Friday.
I have all Apple products so I was thinking about Apple TV but you can't beat $35 and it'll likely have many more compatible apps/programs than Apple TV does.

 Re: The Tech thread
Also, if you don't have Netflix, that's 3 months at $8 a month for $24... so it's really only $11.

 Re: The Tech thread
This also would work well with a family of Android users. Instead of having to switch out cords for different family members to do different things, they could just tap into it with their phone/laptop.
I like it. I wanna see a few more apps before I purchase it, though.

Lenovo might buy Motorola from Google for $3 bil.
Google bought Motorola for $12.5 bil.
Oops.

 Re: The Tech thread
Google is selling Motorola to Lenova for $3b after buying it for $12.5b in 2012. That's a lot of money they ended up spending for the core patents they needed.

 Re: The Tech thread
You guys are not telling the whole story.
Google purchased Motorola for $12.5 billion, but for that price they got Motorola's cash assets of $3.2 billion and $2.4 billion in deferred tax assets (which Google used, since they had taxable income). They then sold off Motorola's set-top box business for $2.3 billion.
So if you add it all up, the net that Google wound paying for those patents is is $1.1 billion, not 9.

 Re: The Tech thread
They also got 15% of the company they sold the set top box business to, which is currently valued at 0.5 billion, as well as additional tax breaks, and additional income from selling off Motorola factories over-seas.

 Re: The Tech thread
So I finally got internet in my apartment, which means I can finally use my Chromecast.
Has anyone else had the issue of... There's a delay in the stream from my chromebook to the TV. Yet there is no delay from my phone to the TV.
It's very odd.
