Tracks has already won Most Overlooked. There really doesn't even need to be a vote, and it doesn't matter that nobody has seen it.

You have to understand how things work around here, zwackerm. You have to be in the clique to influence anything. You liked Into The Woods, which gives the KJ sheep a reason NOT to vote for it. The same applies to my liking of Calvary or Blue Ruin, and possibly why Interstellar didn't receive much love. The wrong people liked them.
This is not the only reason, though. The KJ sheep are heavily influenced by the Oscars, and considering Into The Woods didn't receive much love there either, you can't expect it to receive much here. The same applies to Interstellar and Nightcrawler.

I knew it had no chance at things like picture, any of the other acting categories, etc. I'm really surprised David's influence didn't keep it from any noms.

Re: 11th WOKJ MP Awards - Nominations announced
I voted for Into the Woods fairly often, and highly, in just about any category I found it deserving enough. But mostly because my choices were pretty limited.
I wasn't going to send in a ballot at all, though, because I still haven't seen many of 2014's releases yet. The acting categories took some time.
Thankfully, I may have helped The Tale of Princess Kaguya get in Animation and Foreign Picture, and maybe helped out Edge of Tomorrow out somewhere, too.

Much appreciated Corpse. I could not vote, because when I was putting Rose Byrne down for Best Actress, I realized I have not seen enough films. Mmmmm though.

Well, as has been seen, David also doesn't have much influence. His campaigning for Tracks, Mr. Turner, and Nymphomaniac resulted in zero nominations for them. People at KJ generally just follow what IMDB and The Oscars tell them to like, hence why another David favourite, Inherent Vice, also performed badly with only one nomination. You should feel good that Into The Woods received three nominations.

As with most things, it depends on the area, and collaborations are more powerful than sole campaigners. Magic Mike influences the gays here. Magnus influences the wannabe bros like Chippy and trixster (who also think they have influence, but they have none). David is respected, but I feel most of KJ sees him as too high-brow, so he is often not as influential as it may appear. Lecter probably has the most general influence, but things are still not a certainty unless he also has support of one of the KJ stalwarts like Libs, MadGez or Mister Ecks. Then again, there are certainly people that can ruin someone's influence on a particular film. If the safe-brigade (BJ, Rev, JMart etc.) on KJ like a certain film, then someone such as Thegun or me comes along and shouts from the rooftops about our love for it, that will damage its chances of gaining traction. So as with most things, it depends.

The day Magnus influences trixster will be the day, Mr. R. will give David a rusty trombone.

Best Oscar BP nom though. Even though I enjoyed Les Mis more, it definitely did not deserve a BP win.

Though perhaps the most hilarious thing of that post was thinking that KJ thinks David is too "high brow" or is by any stretch "respected". Well he didn't say how you influenced him. It could be a sexual thing. David got the very boring Lawless to win Most Overlooked one year, thus the myth of his mighty influence began. Or maybe it was Jessica Chastain's taters that had more to do with it? I can't say.

I'm sure there are others, obviously, but they aren't going to vote for what I want just because I'm voting for them. If they would then Skeleton Twins would have been nominated for everything. Especially Bill Hader. Oh, and The Guest would have been nominated for a shit ton!

I didn't say they blindly follow you. They vote for their own first, then if there are free spots, you will have more influence than others over what fills those spots. It's the gay way. Stick together.

MOST OVERLOOKED FILM You have until 12th February to see this and then vote. I really urge you to see it. It's not the sort of film that you have to train yourself to like, it's a genuinely awesome and tense film that I am sure you would all love if you just gave it a chance. I've not seen any film that deserves most overlooked more than Blue Ruin, especially because I know you'll like the film.
