Just because you MAKE the thread doesn't mean you're the only one who is predicting it. Put your rep where your big fat mouth is and stick your neck out like that and show us how easy it is to do it, then. Develope a personality, too. I've already proved many a times how I and I alone called Wedding Crashers to be a SMASH hit.

I have no doubts that if I continued on from 2005-2008, I would have racked up the good calls like Iron-Man left and right. You have to admit, I picked up right where I left off and didn't miss a beat. Why my great track record ruffles feathers is beyond me.

You've been around for hundreds of years, I barely started predicting.
As I said before, if I started predicting one movie a year, I would destroy you.

Munk-E keeps derailing a thread in the box office forum and making it all about me, so since this one already exists, perhaps he'll just vent his frustrations here instead. I'm actually curious to hear from Lecter, Zingy, and Shack in this thread, anyway. The question begs answers from them.

There's no denying the fact that it was a good call. You know, Mav, what I usually think of your bragging...but this was good. Very good. I expect a Hulk prediction soon, BTW!

Libs, xia, Corpse, DPO7, thegun, scottof83, Korrgan, Mr.X, and whoever else would like to give their analysis, fire away, I'd like to hear what you have to say, and I suspect, so would the one and only BKB.

Xiayun is the best box office predictor on this site.
He may not make ridiculous calls that sometime come true, but he is consistently great.
There is nobody better.

You want me to be honest? I think you are good, quite good at reading certain kinds of films, films you simply have more idea and knowledge about. Thus the great calls on Walk the Line and Iron Man. However, your full box-office knowledge can't be assessed as long as you make predictions very rarely and mostly just for films you know something about. When venturing out of the niché, you are hit/miss (like with that Harry Potter 4 insistance on it opening below $100 million). Therefore, you need to dare more and predict more films.

Re: You've Gotta Admit, Maverikk's Good At Box Office..
His recent remarks in the May thread about Sex and the City just proves how much he makes excuses for his bad predictions so he doesn't have to "count" them. After arguing with not just numbers, but justification, for why Sex and the City won't do as well as some people expected, he's pulling the "I never predicted anything for it and I'm not retired, so nice try" bullshit (even though he gave more specific numbers for it than he even did for Iron Man).
Has Mav made great calls? Of course. He's a complete child for running around bragging like anyone cares, but yes, he's made some good calls. However, if he predicted more films, actually gave numbers instead of "I predict that Meet the Spartans will do some number in my head and I'll let you all know one week before it comes out", and acted more mature about when he's right and when he's wrong, then I'd call him a good predictor of box-office.
Until then? Nah.

There is nobody better. Well, according to box office mojo, in 2008 (almost half over) Corpse is the best box office predictor at this site.

You don't count your first predictions. You constantly change your predictions and tweak to come in line with the good derby players. Why am I not allowed to adjust later if I choose to and you and everybody else can?

No one is saying you can't tweak. Go ahead. But if you now claim that Sex and the City is opening to $45m+ and it does, and you act like you're the greatest predictor ever, you're lame.

I knew absolutely nothing about the Doom movie and Video game. I have no bad calls like that except for the Hulk. If I did do a Hulk prediction, and it turned out to be wrong ( as unbelieveable as that possibility is), I could always pull out the "I only miss when I make Hulk predictions" card out of the hat. I wouldn't miss, though...should I predict the Incredible Hulk.

Maverikk wrote: Shack wrote: Almost as good as he is at getting banned Hey, did you go ahead and predict 50-55 million again this weekend for Iron-Man? Yeah, but the thing is, I'll willingly admit that I stink at predicting box-office or sports (especially sports... I'm the plague of sports predicting. I'm almost proud of the insane, divine intervention-like bad streaks I've had in that forum). I just, you know, don't have to measure my worth on how accurately I can guess box-office numbers. By the way, just pointing out, in response to that "I haven't made a prediction since Walk the Line" comment, I'd declare that untrue. I think you "forgot" the time you claimed FF2 was headed for 65-70 mil+, then made a thread after opening day declaring how right you were and how wrong the sheep of KJ always are, then everyone else was like "Whattt, isn't it headed for 55-60 mil like we said it was?", and then watched as it did. That was gold. So as far as I know, you're 1-1 in the last 3 years. Congratulations, you're now as accurate as a monkey flipping a coin! Also according the seach I did of your name in the box-office forum, you made a 200 mil+ thread for Revolutionary Road. That hasn't happened yet, but was just pointed it out. How are we supposed to bow to you if you won't even tell us the truth, dammit!

Some are definitely over predicting it. I could only know for sure if I did my own investigations and analysis.
