Elden Ring!
No I'm kidding you aren't ready for that yet.
If you like big maps with lots of stuff to collect I'd say Horizon, Assassin's Creed, Cyberpunk or Resident Evil 8 would be good choices. Or Witcher 3 if you didn't play that on PS4.

 Re: Last game you played?
Solid reviews for Diablo though I would have liked to see it get over 90.
Surprisingly amazing reviews for Street Fighter with a 92 though. I'll give it a try when it hits game pass.
Gollum reviews ... yikes. Don't think I've ever seen a 35 from a major release like that. Again I must ask: how could you let this happen?

What's with the odd backlash against the new Prince of Persia? It's a return to basics with modern improvements and looks great?

 Re: Last game you played?
Ooh that controller is sexy. Maybe I'll buy it if the game actually works at launch. As for PoP, I know people were disappointed that the Sands of Time remake has seemingly disappeared. Maybe they are redirecting that outrage towards the new game?

 Re: Last game you played?
I know I sound like a broken record, but as great as Tears of the Kingdom is (is there really even a competition for 2023 game of the year?), it's actually just making me appreciate Elden Ring even more. I still can't believe they managed to put the Dark Souls gameplay loop in this type of game and make it work so damn well!
Also, somehow still on God of War Ragnarok. Have already played it more than the last one and it still feels like I'm in the middle of the story. Fantastic game. Much like Last of Us 2, I like how its no longer an escort quest type of game since your partner (s) are more than capable of handling themselves. Amazon better not mess this up! I'd actually prefer if they just adapted the Greek parts of the Kratos tale and let the Norse part be an uber epic two part movie.

 Re: Last game you played?
Nintendo Direct thoughts (Spoiler tags since it just wrapped): -Super Mario Bros. Wonder looks very similar to the "New" Super Mario 2D games (all good, but I know some complain they haven't changed the formula/style up in close to 15 years now), but it also showed some new and unique things in the gameplay too. This is the first actual new Mario main series game since Odyssey (2017)! So Wonder is certainly welcomed.
-Super Mario RPG remake! I know a lot of people are going to be excited about this one. An eventual port was likely going to happen (eventually...), but a graphical upgrade was unexpected.
-Interesting they're porting an HD remake of Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon from the 3DS. I would have predicted an HD port of the original first. But Dark Moon is fun.
-A new Peach game next year. Very long overdue. Didn't get to see much of it, but could be one to watch.
-I'll have to buy the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course DLC pack at some point.
Lots of Mario related news this Direct.
-I was never the biggest Pikmin fan, generally dislike when time-constraints are part of the main gameplay, but glad Nintendo is keeping it going. Pikmin 4 looks pretty good (and is less time-contrainy with the night exploration now it appears), and it's cool they're porting Pikmin and Pikmin 2 over too.
-Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1 is SO PACKED with content. Probably a dream for fans.
-Weird we didn't get any new on the Splatoon 3 DLC. It's suppose to release this summer, so no release date, and not even a trailer of what it's about, is odd. Maybe they're going to do a Splatoon direct or something. Or maybe it's just not ready yet and will be delayed a bit.
-No DLC announcement for Tears of the Kingdom is also surprising. I don't think it really needs any, but the DLC for Breath of the Wild was a really big seller and there's a lot of money being left on the table here if they decide to skip it this time.

 Re: Last game you played?
Wonder does look kind of great. I was mostly out on the 2D Mario games until playing NSMBUDX on the Switch which was a surprisingly fantastic game. Wonder won't be a day one buy like RPG (I'm still !!!! over that announcement) but I'll play it for sure.
Metal Gear seties is great and holds up great if you haven't played them. I didn't get to the series until the late ps3 era but all of them felt like modern games. Just be prepared to watch a lot of cut scenes lol.
I always love Pikmin games for the first hour and then get bored quickly after.
Great reviews for Final Fantasy 16 - Add it to the pile!

 Re: Last game you played?
Wonder makes me want to finish NSMBUDX. We finished it on the Wii U, but it's still fun and we got it for Switch but didn't finish it (just lots more to play on Switch). The "New" Super Mario Bros. games are all good, but I get where some gamers were growing tired of the same art style and mostly copy/paste gameplay for so long.
And it clearly seemed to reach Nintendo since they dropped the "New" from Wonder's title and gave it a new art style. The character models do look pretty close to the box art and promotional art from the N64 days which is cool.
And yeah, Super Mario RPG was the hit of the direct. Since they reached whatever agreement with Square to make this happen, they could have easily just thrown the original onto Switch Online, but no, they went ahead and remade it! It looks great too. They did a great job keeping the original's art style while updating it with more modern graphics.

So, what's this legal fight now with the FTC/Microsoft/Sony?
I thought everyone was getting along swimmingly!

 Re: Last game you played?
Business-wise, there were always reasons to stand against the activision merger as its anti-competitive and all that. Yet I don't think most people really cared all that much until Redfall launched. That game was such a disaster that now everyone wants to keep Microsoft and A/B away from each other. Its too bad we can't retroactively cancel the bethesda deal too lol.

 Re: Last game you played?
So... Starfield is going to be digital only. "Physical" copies will include a download code and no game disc.
I know it was probably going to be a matter of (short) time before gaming became digital-only, but seeing what's likely the start of it now just feels... icky. I just found out that the $200/300 collector editions in the last year haven't been including physical game discs either, just an empty steelbook, in case the buyer only has a digital only console...
Nintendo won't go digital-only anytime soon I suspect because physical media is still the dominate medium in Japan (although digital sales have climbed a lot in recent years), but this make it seem possible in the next decade perhaps.

Gross. They should charge less if it doesn't include a disc. And the file size will probably be over 150gb so good luck to people with slow internet.

 Re: Last game you played?
Well, they deleted that tweet later on. Might have been an error, or maybe they saw the backlash and decided to backtrack. *Shrug*
Anyway! Best Buy Plus launched today, and it's a pretty damn good deal if you get in by 06/29:
-15% off ALL eShop/Store/Digital cards for Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft. -B2G1 on Switch games, which includes preorders. Preorder Mario RPG and Mario Wonder, get something else free (this would more than pay for the yearly Plus membership, and you'd have access to whatever deals they have for the year).

 Re: Last game you played?
Pretty good deal with the buy2g1 on preorders. If you could combine switch and ps5 games Id be very tempted to get both Marios and Spider-Man. Can't think of a third Switch game I'd want though since I got so many from the gamestop b2g1 sale from a few months ago.

 Re: Last game you played?
So I was looking through my trophies trying to compare how much I played the two God of Wars (37 for last one v 45 and still counting for new one) and it looks like Playstation finally added stats about play time. They only go back to PS4 but thats still better than I was hoping. Here's everything I have that is over 100. Overwatch - 916 hours Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) - 410 Rocket League - 224 Elden Ring - 211 Dragon Age 3 - 159 Bloodborne - 142 Fallout 4 - 134 Skyrim - 133 (would be alot more if they counted ps3. Probably even more than Elden Ring when combined.) Diablo 3 - 131 (would also be more if counted ps3 but not as much as Skyrim lol) Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2022) - 127 Witcher 3 - 119 Destiny - 115 Metal Gear Solid 5 - 115 Persona 5 - 108 Batman Arkham Knight - 104

 Re: Last game you played?
Open world RPGs and online multiplier games are clearly your favorites!
Taking a little break from Zelda for a bit. Absolutely love it, pretty much a strict upgrade over BOTW in every way, but don't want to get burned out as I get closer to the end of the story. (I'll probably have a TL;DR post on it in the future.)
SO! I saw that Marvel's Midnight Suns was on sale this week (50% off or $39 for the digital+ version) and bought it. I was interested in it last year, but I sort of just forgot about it / didn't have time to play it when it released and some time after that.
I'm really enjoying it so far. The graphics are definitely PS4/XBONE quality, which is fine, it was developed with them in mind, but maybe worth mentioning. Performance wise, it's run good so far. It's more story and character relationship focused than I was expecting, and quite dialogue heavy, but it's been pretty good on that front. The tactical turn-based battles, however, are really great. They're already a lot of fun with the limited characters and cards (attacks/skills/etc.) I have, so I'm expecting some amazing stuff later on.
