Chippy is out of his depth. It's like watching Michael Cera (Chippy) wrestle with a The Rock (Caius), lol.

I loathe that his defenders claim he is being "un-pc" when he is simply being rude and oafish and I thank Megyn Kelly for outing him early before he further damaged the ideology that he [allegedly] has belonged to since all of last week. His speaking style makes George W.Bush seem like Churchill or Pericles.

Trump, shockingly, came out and corrected the quote saying he was referring to her nose and said anybody who thought he was making a period joke was a "deviant". I will say that the fact that he corrected it rather than just say "eh fuck it" makes me believe him on this one.

The fact that he made up some dumb excuse rather than saying "I mispoke" or "I was wrong" makes you believe him? And if he really did mean "nose," he is even stupider than I imagined because Megyn Kelly clearly dominated the match with him. She was 80s Tyson to his 80s Trevor Berbick.

I like Megyn Kelly a lot but she hardly dominated him. Understand his appeal and it's clear Trump owned her first question about calling women names on Twitter. Her 2nd question about when did he become a Republican was more effective but all the same didn't do much to his appeal.

Re: The Gift That Keeps On Giving: Trump 2016
Some good points about how even before the Kelly comments Fox News had turned their back on the Donald http://www.vox.com/2015/8/8/9121377/don ... egyn-kellyNate Silver estimated a 2% chance of Trump being the GOP nominee, wouldn't surprise me if that or less is accurate. They won't nominate someone who can't win general election. Trump doesn't appeal to hard right that much because of his policies and doesn't appeal to moderates that much because they think he's an idiot.

Trump will never, ever win and of course Fox News hates Trump. It is as pro establishment as you can get.

I take that by establishment Excel means the party establishment or the political ruling class. I doubt Trump will be pro-establishment if he runs as a third candidate. The game dynamic changes if the field is more open to third-party candidates.

Re: The Gift That Keeps On Giving: Trump 2016
Trump is anti-GOP in the sense that he is a lifelong Democrat but that is about all. The establishment dislikes him because he is an idiot and says stupid things. Not because he has anti-establishment positions.
Typical position "I will fix America because I am smart/businessman/force of will." "I will get Mexico to pay for a wall by [force of will]."
He is pro-amnesty, pro-crony-capitalist, won't do anything on abortion (he favors it, like the establishment, but keeps quiet), no plan to replace Obamacare (no intent to do so but will vaguely say he disfavors it (and he is pro-single payer)). All things the establishment generally likes even if it won't outright say so.
Things the establishment dislikes that Trump does: States stupid things and won't back the winner of the primary.

Just spitballing here and I could be wrong, but starting to feel like Rubio would have maybe the best chances of anyone they could pick. I think Republican base could at least be energized behind him as a conservative who's young/good looking/good at talking and different from the usual old white guy. GOP has no chance if they end up with a Romney or Kerry who their base isn't that into. If Hillary is the candidate electing a female president will be a liberal national movement that crushes the get out and vote category. It won't matter if Repubs do well on moderates if they can't get enough of their numbers voting
Then again at this point Rubio is a potentially strong enough 2020, 2024, etc. candidate that he may as well not burn his name on this election when Democrats could be too strong for anyone to beat

At least there is kooks on the other side too. http://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2016-election/black-lives-matter-activists-disrupt-bernie-sanders-speech-n406546I kinda like Bernie even though his views are polar opposite of most of mine. At least he is honest and doesn't seem cynical like Hillary.

lol, them going after Bernie Sanders as if he is David Duke is so ludicrous. It is the type of self-devouring, forest-for-the-trees behavior which undermines devoted liberals and lures them toward self-parody.

Rubio would get destroyed by Hillary. Nobody wants another amateur ala W or O.

Re: The Gift That Keeps On Giving: Trump 2016
Press release: Black Lives Matter Seattle #BowDownBernie ActionQuote: ... This city is filled with white progressives, which is why Bernie Sanders’ camp was obviously expecting a friendly and consenting audience for today’s campaign visit. The problem with Sanders’, and with white Seattle progressives in general, is that they are utterly and totally useless (when not outright harmful) in terms of the fight for Black lives. While we are drowning in their liberal rhetoric, we have yet to see them support Black grassroots movements or take on any measure of risk and responsibility for ending the tyranny of white supremacy in our country and in our city. This willful passivity while claiming solidarity with the #BlackLivesMatter movement in an effort to be relevant is over. White progressive Seattle and Bernie Sanders cannot call themselves liberals while they participate in the racist system that claims Black lives. Bernie Sanders will not continue to call himself a man of the people, while ignoring the plight of Black people. Presidential candidates will not win Black votes without putting out an explicit criminal justice reform package. As was said at the Netroots action, presidential candidates should expect to be shut down and confronted every step along the way of this presidential campaign. Black people are in a state of emergency. Lines have been drawn in the sand. You are either fighting continuously and measurably to protect Black life in America, or you are a part of the white supremacist system that we will tear down in the liberation of our people... They express frustration with Bernie Sanders and other white progressives for their inaction in a criminal justice reform. They are obviously trying to get public attention. Not sure if that helps or hurts their ultimate goal. But the only times I see BlackLivesMatter mentioned in the mainstream media are either when protesters are involved in scuffles with the police or in events like this. In-depth media reporting and oversight of the criminal justice system are simply lacking, especially on the local level. Local tv rarely reports hard news, but only sports and weather. I guess it must be really hard to get these activists heard in an audience-friendly way in today's media landscape.
