Jake LaMotta never goes down. Also, Kirk Douglas has finally reached middle age.

I was stunned when I heard that a few years ago as well. The beating he got from Sugar Ray later dramatized in the film was just savage

Some people are just resilient and get old as shit. Betty White is still around too, when all of her Golden Girls co-stars have been dead for several years now.

Two more are gone.

Liz Smith (95, seen in The Royle Family among many other shows and films) passed away on Christmas Eve, and Ricky Harris (52, seen in Heat, Simon Sez and Hard Rain) passed away on Boxing Day.

Elton John? He and Madonna and ?

Not all of them active, and some of them started before the 80s, but so did Michael Jackson or Elton John too, but you have Phil Collins, Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, Tina Turner, Peter Gabriel, Stevie Wonder, Sting as soloists.
And for groups, Duran Duran, Spandau Ballet, Depeche Mode, Rolling Stones, Bon Jovi, U2, Pet Shop Boys, Dire Straits.

I was surprised to learn Paula Abdul has 6 #1s. I always just assumed she was a glorified one hit wonder

I've always enjoyed the origin story of Paula Abdul's "Straight Up" (starts 19:52)...

The songwriter was Elliot Wolff who died on a solo camping trip this past summer.

BTW, the video for Straight Up was directed by David Fincher...
