Re: Common word mix-ups or spelling mistakes?
1) Irregardless. Not a word and its meaning is the same as "regardless."
2) People that use "literally" when they mean "figuratively."

Re: Common word mix-ups or spelling mistakes?
Yeah, that's not what this thread is about, figuratively speaking. Irregardless, I do agree.

Preform and perform are easily mixed up I think.

Re: Common word mix-ups or spelling mistakes?
I don't think I've ever used the word 'preform'. How and why are you using it so often that you get it mixed up with 'perform'?

I guess I just use it work related then that I come across this word and therefore need to focus to write it correctly each time.

For some reason, whenever I type out "statement" I always misspell it at work.

Re: Common word mix-ups or spelling mistakes?
Whenever I type "Fried", I always type the 'n' making it "Friend". I just cannot seem to shake this.

Re: Common word mix-ups or spelling mistakes?
Not spelling related, but I just cannot seem to pronounce "meme" correctly. I say "mem" when apparently it should be said "meem". The truth is I just don't want it to be "meem", so I go with "meme" hoping it will miraculously change. And I'm usually reading it online and saying it my head so it doesn't matter too much anyway. I have said it aloud probably twice in my life (since it made a comeback a few years back).

I have a friend who, when he talks about The Expendables says the "a" in the word as if it was the "a" in baby (eɪ). Expendeibles. Not only that he actually puts the emphasis on that a too. It has been driving me crazy.

Also, why do so many Americans write "could of" instead of "could have"...? It is not even close.

Dr. Lecter wrote: Also, why do so many Americans write "could of" instead of "could have"...? It is not even close. Americans have butchered the English language. They're lazy speakers, that's all. It is because in speech "could've" sounds like "could of", so it just evolved into "could of" instead of the correct "could have".

I always pronounced it meh-meh, but then I'm not a native English speaker so it's all just whatever.
Meem just sounds wrong to me though. Me-me sounds more logical.
