My third novel came out last year and it is very possible that Random House may take the Sherlock Holmes short story collection I am editing. So, overall, good stuff. Still? Wow, that sucks. I remember you've been trying to sell it for a while now. But congrats on the third novel (again)!

No, that was the novel I was trying to sell, and eventually I let my small publishing house have it, and it's doing quite well (by their small standards). The Sherlock Holmes book is a new project. But thanks for the kind words!

When you said "trying to sell it for a while now" I assumed "it" meant the novel. But it does indeed suck. It's been since June that I have been paying two mortgages.

Re: So what is everyone's life like now?
Yesterday my life was made very inconvenient because I happened to be at L'Enfant Plaza Metro Station when an outgoing train filled with smoke, and we all had to evacuate the station. It was actually pretty scary, smoke was starting to billow in. Then I had to go outside in the pouring rain and wait for ineffective shuttle buses that didn't really come, so after about an hour I gave up and got an Uber home. Still, nothing compared to the poor people stuck on the train for an hour that filled with smoke. Like 80 people had to go to the hospital for smoke inhalation and one woman actually died. http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/tra ... story.html
