I wanted to take a quick poll for a work-related issue.

If you contacted a call center and were told by your analyst that they were going to place you on hold for "just a moment," how long you would expect to wait? How long you would reasonably wait before hanging up?

If I was at work... I would wait 10-15 minutes.

If I was at home... I would wait 5-7 minutes... MAYBE.

Though, reasonably, it should take 2-3 minutes and no more than 5 minutes.

I guess my real question is, how long you wait without getting annoyed if they said it was going to be "just a moment?"

I would get annoyed after the five minute point, hang up after 10-15, I like to give people some time when asked.

yeah it totally depends. just generically, a moment that I'm just being held should be no longer than three minutes. but there are circumstances in which I would gladly wait twenty or thirty minutes plus. like if I'm calling to collect a five million dollar prize or something. I'll let that moment stretch on pretty damn long

I'd wait ages thinking that if I hung up I'd be at the end of the queue. Probably 10 minutes. That's a long time when just holding a phone to your head.

It depends on how important the call is to me. If it is an urgent matter, I will just wait. If not, I will hang up after 2-3 minutes.
