Re: Spider problem There's nothing I wouldn't do to keep a spider like that the fuck outta my house. My steps would be:
1. Move to a place as hermetically sealed as possible (newer is usually better).
2. If #1 not an option, look into permanently sealing up any places where things that size might be getting in. Obviously have window screens for open windows and regularly inspect for holes.
3. Bomb the place (exterminator).
4. Regularly spray Raid or similar product over the places things like that might be getting in.
5. Keep around the kind of Raid that shoots out like a fire-hose, for emergencies like that.
6. Have a minimum of one cat around, if possible
7. Regularly dust and vacuum and clean cobwebs. Make sure there's no food or food stains laying around to attract anything.
I saw a spider dangling over my bed the other night, while I was laying in it. When I got up to kill it, I watched it disappear before my very eyes. I looked everywhere and couldn't find the son of a bitch. I've never seen the like.

Re: Spider problem Cats are ok... but Dogs are better. My roommates dog will leap into the air and snatch flies with ease. And my previous dog would gobble up crickets all the time.
