 NHL 2009-2010 Season
A new day, a new year, a new thread?
According to the Score yesterday Anaheim is trading Pronger for Jack Johnson and the 5th pick from LA... so basically Pronger, a 35 year old who'll be a free agent next year and it contemplating retirement, for two top 5 picks. (The teams 'denied' it, but this morning the guy who reported it said it's a done deal from upper sources, it just can't be announced until Monday... the Score is reliable so I'd trust it's pretty likely).
Is LA retarded? stay tuned

 Re: NHL 2009-2010 Season
Yeah, I heard this on CBC last night. The guy said it "made sense" for both teams, but I don't think so. LA is supposed to be rebuilding; why are they going after Pronger the albatross?

Ovie rather have a different trophy this year. But the scoring title and MVP will do.

 Re: NHL 2009-2010 Season
Tavares goes first overall (as expected), Oilers pick a mouthful of a Swede, and Burke is his usual blowhard self. That's the draft for you.
Also, Pronger goes to the Flyers. Good riddance from the Western Conference.

Bouwmeester's rights go to the Flames for Leopold and a third rounder.
Good deal for Calgary, but they still won't get out of the first round.

 Re: NHL 2009-2010 Season
Happy Free Agency Day!
My Oilers got Khabibulin for four years, so we've got our starter. Now only if he plays like it.
As such, Roloson went to the Islanders.
The Blackhawks retaliated by getting Marian Hossa. Now they'll never win a Cup!
Gaborik went to the Rangers. Cammalleri and Gionta went to Montreal. The Sedins re-signed.
But what's TSN's biggest story? Fucking Mike Komisarek going to the Leafs. Toronto Sports Network, indeed.

They're also being investigated for tampering.
That's what you get for letting Americans run the team.

Kovalev goes to the Sens. Koivu goes to the Ducks.
Is it just me, or will the Habs suck next year?

Is it just me, or will the Habs suck next year? It's hard to imagine they'll be worse than this year, but so far it's shaping up that way. And it was confirmed today that Fenway Park will be the host of the Winter Classic Game between the Bruins and the Flyers. I still don't get why the Canadiens weren't really even considered (it was rumored to be either the Flyers, Rangers or Capitals), but it should be good. It'll be interesting to see how much the Monster Seats go for.

 Re: NHL 2009-2010 Season
The Canadiens were supposed to be hosting their own outdoor game at Olympic Stadium in November, but I haven't heard if it went through or not.
Montreal's replaced too many players on their team. It's almost inevitable that they won't immediately gel and the team will stumble out of the gates. And that's when Gainey starts panicking.

 Re: NHL 2009-2010 Season
Apparently there's a three-way deal in the works with Heatley going to the Sharks, Marleau to the Kings, and Stoll and Frolov to the Sens, but Marleau may not waive his no-trade clause. Serves Heatley right!
