Flavia ended up winning 7-6 6-2, I believe. That was a solid win. She had interesting champion's speech where she announced she was retiring from tennis which was surprising. Apparently, she had made this decision sometime before the Open. Who know's exactly when but she wanted to go out on top and bravo to her but it was a surprise.

Tomorrow, I'm hoping Roger beats Djokovic. I know I claimed he would never win another major after his Wimbledon drubbing but idk he seems very focused and very determined. I really hope he can capture the title tomorrow.

I can't watch anymore of it. The match is giving me a headache now. Djokovic is counter puncher pro tonight.

That was a weird win, felt like an off performance like Djokovic like some of the major Finals he's lost, wasn't doing much but getting it back until Fed hit one out and the occasional nice lob. But I guess the advantage of making so many Finals is some might fall in your lap even on off days.

The guy is untouchable #1 right now. He should win another Australian and then go into French Open with a chance to do a Serena/Tiger Slam holding all four majors + career grand slam

Another major for Djokovic, and now Federer record seems to be in peril, although 6 major difference when Djokovic is 30 in May 2017 is probably a bigger lead than it seems

I guess Djokovic does have a good chance to reach Federer now simply because there is no one to stand in his way. Fed can't beat him, Nadal is injured all the time, Murray is outmatched and Warwrinka is hit or miss. There's no one in the way so Djokovic is probably going to win 3/4 majors this year unless he somehow gets upset by someone.

That's nice. She'll catch Graf despite your negativity.

Novak Slam! What a run of excellence in the last year and half.

Nadal is too old now, plus he is always injured. Great champion with his muscular and determined way of play, but he won't ever win another grand slam. Federer too, unfortunately. Djokovic has won the last of four grand slam tournaments and has won 12 in total. Murray cannot beat him. Wawrinka, nah. The only thing that will beat him is himself - either age or injury, and then Murray or Federer might win another. I think Djokovic will most likely beat Federer's 17 wins -- BUT when a player gets closer to any record, they will wobble. It's not easy breaking a record such as Federer's slam titles.

Well well well.

Federer's comeback was A-Mazing. That Cilic guy was like 50 something and Zero in either grandslam matches or matches overall where he won when leading 2-0. Nice for Fed to break that streak. I look forward to tomorrow. Federer v Raonic. I hope Fed can pull it out. Fed v Murray would be a blast from the past.

Serena held up her end. That other girl was way outmatched. Venus unfortunately just made way too many errors throughout her match. Serena v Kerber #2. I like Serena's chances.

Serena and V also made the doubles semis.

THE QUEEN
THE QUEEN REIGNS SUPREME

#22

Soon she will have total grand slam matches won.
In about a year and a half she will have most weeks at number one.
Hopefully within two years she will pass Margaret Courts record.
Lastly, during that period she can work on her major doubles record with Venus.

Did Djokovic not play Wimbledon this year?

I awake to find that Murray has won it for a second time. I dislike Murray so this isn't good news.

Djokovic lost to a rando (Sam Querrey) in 3rd round, first loss before QF in a grand slam since 2009

Fuck. That's huge. He was ultra consistent up until then.

Could this be, I dare say, the....MURRAY ERA?!! :funny:

Can't believe how long it's taking a young "next guy" to show up and start the process of being a top 5 guy not ready to beat Djokovic and Murray for the first few years, then figuring it out and becoming number 1

Unbelievable. An All Williams Final! It's 2017, who thought that would happen ever again.

I'm just so amazed at the longevity and consistency of Serena and Venus. Especially with Venus how she was continued to compete after revealing her autoimmune disorder in 2011. She's been very inspiring and Serena as well. She went from being derailed for a year due to health problems and broken glass to being on the verge of claiming Slam #23. I'm just amazed. She's been my favorite athlete from way back and to see her still grinding it out. Just amazing.

I'm also happy that Roger Federer is still competing hard and contending.

As for the final, I expect Serena to get #23, pass Graf and eventually catch Court if not pass her.

Yeah - an all Williams women's final AND a Federer/Nadal men's final in the same Open in 2017 is almost almost too good to be true. C'mon Rafa!!
