Re: The Tennis Thread
For a second there I thought Serena was gonna perform a magic trick and win this after her last performance but for some wack reason she's playing doubles and boom...gets injured. Ruined a dream match of Sharapova v Williams too. Bummer. Hopefully she heals up by Wimbledon or skips that and does the US. My rooting is now for Sharapova. I would love to see her win the French.
Nadal is on course as far I know. I can't see anyone beating him. Haven't checked any updates on today's matches.

Re: The Tennis Thread
Simona Halep v Sloane Stephens
Gratz to SS for reaching her first FO Final. She's finally realizing the talent she possesses. I think she'll only get better with age as that seems how women's tennis has begun evolving. I do think Halep will justify her #1 status by winning her first grand slam title.
Nadal appears to be on track as far as I know.
Djokovic will probably be stuck at 12 forever as he's over 30.

Nadal got to the magic 17 number, too bad Federer now has 20

Re: The Tennis Thread
Eleven French titles. Astonishing. Who cares if he catches Federer or not. Federer will always been seen as the game's golden boy. But Nadal is the game's warrior. And I always preferred the Ultimate Warrior to Hulk Hogan.

Re: The Tennis Thread
If Nadal wasn't the #2 player of all time already, he would definitely be now. Definitely incredible for him to win #11 on Clay and #17 overall.
Top 5 ever would probably be like this: 1. Federer 2. Nadal 3. Borg 4. Sampras 5. Djokovic

Re: The Tennis Thread
Yeah, I'd agree with that order. Maybe interchange Sampras and Borg depending on my mood. May even move up Djokovic because he is playing in a much harder era than Borg and Sampras.

Re: The Tennis Thread
I think for Djoko it depends a bit how he finishes his career. His mid-15 to mid-16 peak was some of the best tennis in the last 40 years maybe.

Re: The Tennis Thread
I think Djokovic has a case for 3rd, his competition was brutal. Giving away majors to Wawrinka and Murray multiple times each hurt a lot though

Re: The Tennis Thread
Serena is unreal . I think she has the pressure while Kerber is back to being thankful she returned to a final. I do wish Serena to win and get that thing slam then she can focus on winning one more and retire

John inner is the worst. Can’t break anything . That’s why his matches go on for an eternity .

Re: The Tennis Thread
Yeah, no reason for not having the tie-break in the 5th set, and as the players mentioned, it doesn't need to end 7-6. They could just say go to a tiebreak after 10-10 in the 5th.

Re: The Tennis Thread
I don’t mind the marathon as it rarely happens. It only happens to Isner multiple times because he can’t rally or break worth a damn. All he can do is serve and out serve. I would rather Wimbledon stop with the pointless rules like no play on Sunday and now this fake curfew.

Haha. Fuck Isner. Glad he's out. Nadal needs to do this, but he has a lot of work to do.

Re: The Tennis Thread
I saw Djokovic moving very well and fast, and Nadal is having problems with his first serve. Grass is still his worst surface and not being able to do many aces hurts him a lot. I want Nadal to win, but think Djokovic will be the one in the final.

Re: The Tennis Thread
Nadal was never a big ace winner anyway. He grinds out points with long rallies. But sure, the first serve always helps, and against someone of Djokovic's calibre you need every facet of your game to be on point.

Re: The Tennis Thread
The Serena beat down was depressing but Kerber is no slouch. She’s the French away from winning all the slams. I do think Serena will get 24 and 25 then just do doubles. This one though was tough since grass is made for her game but her serve wasn’t here today.
Djokovic should win tomorrow
France should too

Re: The Tennis Thread
Djokovic won. Didn't even break a sweat, lol.
He now has 13 grand slams to Nadal's 17. But Nadal is still winning French's and US Open's so I don't think Novak will catch him.

Re: The Tennis Thread
With Federer only really able to compete at the Aussie Open now, Nadal could actually reach his grand slam total with French's and the odd other one. But it is unlikely. Hope he does, though.
