Yeah that'd be dumb. WWE is an easy payday for him and he can obviously do both.

Post Re: Wrestling (WWE, TNA, ROH)
They're doing their best to ruin this whole brand split from the start. That ending segment on RAW was horrid. Who cares who ran which show? And who wanted which show? RAW is always the "A show" It was before and will continue to be, Live Smackdown or not. The whole thing started off on the wrong foot when Shane McMahon lost his Wrestlemania match. That match should never have happened. It wasted Undertaker. It had a completely throwaway gimmick involving Shane since it was completely ignored that he lost, thus losing rights to running RAW.

Now they'll also hire general managers? Ugh. More chances to disappoint. We don't need all these authority figures.

I have high hopes but I think WWE will continue to royally fuck this up. They'll create two World titles, two womens titles, two tag titles. And tag teams should be drafted together. They'll inevitably break up teams (New Day is definitely getting broken up, and probably a few more).

I can keep going but it's all negative. I have almost zero good memories about the original brand split, and they're going to repeat it almost completely from 2002. I missed most of the Attitude era, having lost my interest sometime in 1996/1997, and got back into wrestling around 2002, almost miraculously since this brand split took place right after I started watching again. But I feel my interest slipping again.

Lesnar may have been busted for doping. True or not, this puts shade on his win and may even knock him out of Summerslam. An unpleasant turn of events for everyone.

And the brand split doesn't seem to have been given much thought beyond "we need better ratings for Smackdown."

They do have a pretty full roster now, though, and can likely support two live shows a week with sufficient entertainment.

I'm sure it's wishful thinking, but hopefully the split allows them to develop worthy storylines for the many, many mid-card superstars; and better yet, allow the more talented ones more than 3 minutes per match, and not be grouped in as many tag team match-ups.

Bryan as Smackdown GM is pretty cool, too. Foley as RAW GM is fine as well, but he's... sort of tiring at the point (still love him though).

Also, what the fuck happened with Raw's ending tonight? I don't mind that Rollins "won", quite the opposite, but what a horrid, confusing, way to end it.

Yeah, the controversial match endings suck. They're never fun, they never make sense, and they suck the life out of a main event match. How is it that the referee couldn't say who won decisively? Makes no sense to end it like that. The WWE Championship match didn't need to end like that.

Of course the logical reason, considering Stephanie was so excited Seth won and Dean was left behind with Shane and Daniel Bryan, is that this will force Shane to bring back the World Heavyweight Championship for Smackdown. But why do it this way? And why was Stephanie so happy? The draft hasn't happened so Seth could still go to Smackdown.

I don't know, maybe I'm asking too many questions.

For some reason they put the real ending on the Network after the show .. With no promotion. Dean is still champ though they'll likely spin this into having Seth and Dean be champs of whatever show they land on.

And thus the brand split begins.

The Draft was fairly boring. I'm glad they didn't do the nonsensical randomized drawing of Drafts past, but... did Shane, Steph, Mick and Daniel Bryan have a script, or did they try to make it seem unrehearsed? A lot of their mic time killed any kind of buzz the draft was building.

Anyway, I'll be watching both shows next week, but I'll have to see it to believe it that this brand split is a positive.

It was a decent split in terms of top end talent but Raw had the better:

- Divas (including the champion and #1 contender Charlotte/Sasha, also if Nikki or Bayley is Battleground partner they'll be on Raw)
- Tag teams (including the champion and hottest team in The New Day and Enzo & Cass)
- Midcard/best workers (Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, Cesaro, Rusev)
- The soon to be Cruiserweight division

That is way too lopsided. SD should've been thrown a bone somewhere

WWE Universal Championship... "Universal" sure is a substantial, meaningful word, but it just sounds so... non-main championship worthy. And it, of course, dilutes the significance of the WWE Championship.

Maybe they should have just "retired" the WWE Championship, and created a main title for both Raw and Smackdown (e.g. Raw Championship/Smackdown Championship). Then, possibly at Wrestlemania, reintroduce the WWE Championship as the new "WWE Universal Championship", and have it awarded to the winner of the Raw Champion vs. Smackdown Champion match. I don't know.

Well, I'm glad they kept the World Heavyweight Championship retired. Doing something new is welcome. Yeah, the WWE Universal Championship doesn't sound the greatest, but I'm sure it'll grow on me. I hope they call the other title the WWE World and/or Heavyweight Championship. Doesn't make sense to go with WWE and WWE Universal for the names.

I'm mixed on giving Finn Balor this big opportunity so soon. You're almost destined for failure to go straight to the top. Even if he wins at Summerslam (I doubt it), he won't be a long term champ.

But it beats another Rollins vs. Reigns match. It's time to either minimize Roman Reigns or change the character.

I don't quite understand why they're keeping Bayley in NXT for now. I was under the impression that with the Womens division getting bigger and better, we would have more matches featuring women. So why would they keep Bayley away from RAW or Smackdown?

I think the reason is that they want Sasha to be THE star for now, and keep those two apart until it's wrestlemania season. I find no other reason.

Smackdown was such a downgrade from Raw....

The best thing was Eva's completely over the top entrance. They're clearly aiming to make her a nuclear heat magnet.

That was the best thing I've seen in a long time on WWE. You can't get legit heat like that. Then they just ended the segment. Also, the women that came out seemed pretty B-grade. Felt like a step backwards for the women division.

Also, not sure what the point is in re-signing Shelton Benjamin at 41 (!). There are a lot of names that are supposedly coming back and it doesn't make a ton of sense to me. These people are not the future. NXT has more names that should be given the shot.

People always defend the brand split by saying it gives guys like Dolph Ziggler a shot at the main event, so why not go with Dolph himself? I still hate that they splt the titles, but Dean v Dolph is a nothing match without it. And we get Seth v Finn? At least they are gonna do right by Summerslam.

Love Sasha's win, it felt a huge deal even if it would've been more awesome in Brooklyn. Do we get a gimmick rematch now? Hell in a Cell?

Nah, Alexa Bliss is actually amazing. She's like a young Trish Stratus. Carmella is good for what she is, but yeah, the real star is Eva. If done right she can be the biggest heel (you have to watch the Eva vs Bayley match for the NTX women's championship, just so you see Eva Marie's heat at full force, people were on the edge of their seat on the verge of a riot, lol) the in the division since.... Slutty Lita, holy fuck has it really been 10 years?

RAW did a lot of things wrong (namely having the men help out Sasha and Charlotte, which could have been an iconic opening to have the women open RAW), but I loved the RAW ending with the security and referees chasing Orton out of the ring. Felt nicely realistic that there is a brand split and Orton is technically not affiliated in any way with RAW, so he's treated like a fan entering the ring.

Well... Eva Marie successfully had one of the worst returns ever. I'm going to assume the injury is legit (even though she appeared to be faking it) because I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be.

I assume it was expert trolling on her part. If it gets heat from the crowd, I dig it. If you can't wrestle well, at least do something that gets a reaction.

Meanwhile, Carmella's mic skills are way lacking. If you're going to pull her from NXT, at least put her back with Enzo and Cass.

Eva's injury had to be a work, fits her character and throwing to a Renee/Carmela interview and Carmela saying she thought the injury was fake is the giveaway

I liked Smackdown more than Raw this week. Ambrose and Ziggler is off to a solid start, great Cena-Styles segment, Bray looked strong, Apollo Crews as IC #1 title works for me, American Alpha, just enough Orton Lesnar
