Re: World Cup 2014
U.S. should feel confident after this Portugal performance.

Re: World Cup 2014
Germany looks great. Among the pre-tournament favorites, they played the best in the first game.

Re: World Cup 2014
Germany has the skill to become third or second of the tournament.
btw: Has Ronaldo ever made a goal with a free kick in a Euro or World Cup game? His stupid show seems to be just a waste of oportunity. As a coach I would have given other players a chance ages ago.

I was referring to the small shortlist of pre-tournament favorites, which they didn't really belong. The top 4 betting favorites were Brazil, Spain, Argentina, and Germany.

Well, no arguing there. But the two I have mentioned played better than Germany. In fact, had we played the same we did today against the Netherlands, they would have blown us away. It's not like Germany played amazing football today, it's more that Argentina, Brazil and Spain didn't play very well at all.

Re: World Cup 2014
Wow!
And I do agree that Netherlands and Italy looked the most impressive so far.

Re: World Cup 2014
US really only needs a tie with Portugal to advance since I don't see them making up a 5-goal differential in the last round, and Portugal will be without Pepe, and the match being in Manaus benefits the fitter team, which should be the US in this case. This is as ideal a situation as one could hope for.
