The Da Vinci Code at $31-34 million on Friday!

Using Box Office reports, crowd reports, and Yahoo! user reviews, The World of KJ estimates that The Da Vinci Code has pulled in $31-34 million on it's opening Friday.
Michael Xia, a columnist at WoKJ, said the following regarding the Yahoo! reviews for Da Vinci, "Yahoo! was pretty unstable the whole day, and the originally projected ratio can no longer be applied. It appeared to have cloggings, and Yahoo! is also in the process of moving to the newly designed page, which makes it harder to navigate to the movie page and thus should reduce the ratio."
"Under the circumstance, the crowd reports become more helpful. They are pointing to an over $30m opening, and that will mean a ratio of less than 157.3 (final raw number of reviews is 4,719 reviews). With adults dominating and super saturation of showtimes, that's very much conceivable even with a higher-than-usual percentage of fake reviews due to controversy. The B- grade for Da Vinci isn't satisfying, but it did come back from the early grade of C+. Overall, I'd put the opening day at $31-34m for a ratio of 140-150."
"Over the Hedge, on the other hand, isn't overly impressive, but 648 reviews and a good B+ grade still indicates a respectable $9-11m opening."
WoKJ's users have been using Yahoo! reviews to track openers for years. While the system is not full proof, it generally produces a very accurate estimate.
