Like it or not, The Fast and the Furious film series is returning to theaters with a new installment this spring. Fast Five, the appropriately named fifth film of the series, will hit theaters this spring. The film will be the first of The Fast and the Furious series to be shown in IMAX as well.
While it hasn't exactly been the most critically acclaimed film series of recent years, the series has been mildly successful in the box office. Overall, the films have grossed some $961 million, with the last film, simply titled Fast and Furious, earning the most of the series at nearly $360 million. So despite the critical reactions to the films, they're at least mildly popular with movie goers.
Fast Five will aim to continue the success of the series by bringing the top talent of the films together for one massive reunion. Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel), Brian O'Conner (Paul Walker), Mia Toretto (Jordana Brewster), Roman Pearce (Tyrese Gibson), Han Lue (Sung Kang), Vince (Matt Schulze), Tej Parker (Ludacris), and Gisele Harabo (Gal Gadot) all return to team up and confront the businessman that wants Dom and Brian dead. However, they soon find out that someone else is also trying to catch up to them: Federal agent Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson). Fast paced action and street racing shenanigans ensue in the beautiful landscape of Rio de Janeiro.
Fast Five opens in both theaters and IMAX on April 29th. Check out the official website for info, photos, and more.
