Elijah Wood returning for 'The Hobbit'
Rumors began last week that Elijah Wood would return for 'The Hobbit' and now the actor's reps have made it official: the actor has signed on for the back-to-back 'Hobbit' films and will reprise his role as Frodo.
The two 'Hobbit' films are set for continuous production begining in February and slated for release in December 2012 and 2013. Both films will be directed by Peter Jackson who once again assumed the helm after Guillermo del Toro stepped down.
Wood joins a cast that includes Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins and Cate Blanchett as Galadriel. Various additional stars such as Orlando Bloom, Ian McKellen and Andy Serkis are likely to return.
Ahem. Great story. Compelling, and rich.
You want my first reaction? Well, don't get me wrong, I love Frodo Baggins. I mean Frodo revs my engines, but he doesn't belong in 'The Hobbit.' Then again, his hair smells like cinnamon, and all he'll be doing is narrating ... so after digestion, I think I'm fine with it. Anything for another romp in Middle-Earth.
For the entire Channel 4 news team, I'm Ron Burgundy. Go fuck yourself, WoKJ.
