Russia and CIS: July 14-17, Results

The final part of the movie Harry Potter loudly launched in the United States and in worldwide box office. In Russia, Deathly Hallows Part II at least were the best of the franchise, but any records are not updated. The final part earned $15.32M for the standard weekend and $19.50M by Monday. The number of spectators for four-day weekend was even a bit smaller than the first Deathly Hallows (1.83 vs. 1.99 million). However, this nuisance is largely due to the fact that fans have seen on Wednesday. The result of the first day became the third, followed by the latest series of Pirates and Twilight. The first weekend box office also were third, but only for this year after the fourth part of the Pirates of the Caribbean and third Transformers.

The buzz surrounding the book has long subsided, and involve more audience was not possible, which is growing with each film in Russia, unlike the United States. Perhaps the premiere of the film in Russia would help, which would receive wide coverage in the press. But distributors have not bothered to even once to show the actors.

In the list of highest-grossing films Transformers: Dark of the Moon rose to seventh place with $41.22M. The closest purpose - Alice in Wonderland with $42.11M.

Bad Teacher dropped one place down with 61% incidence, earning another $2.29M. Cameron Diaz appeared in Moscow, not in vain, and now it is her most successful film in Russia with $10.27M.

Comedy with Jim Carrey, Mr. Popper's Penguins well spent second weekend, adding $1.07M, losing less than half from the starting box office and increased the total to $4.00M

But the debut of the second new movie of the week, the political thriller The Debt, was very modest - only $0.21M at 175 screens. Releasing such films in summer is not the best idea. And even the arrival of Helen Mirren in Russia could not change anything. In June 2009, with the more famous the cast (Russell Crowe, Ben Affleck) State of Play earned $0.14M but with 87 screens.
