Aronofsky's psychological thriller, Black Swan, finally opens in it's last market to very impressive numbers.

Black Swan opened early on May 11th with 93,245 admissions and exceeded 100 million yen ($1.2 million) in gross.  Then for the weekend itself, the dark tale mobilized 209,614 people to gross an estimated 268,004,900 yen ($3.3 million) on 316 screens.

Easily enough to win the weekend, and with thursday and friday included, Black Swan exceeded 400,000 admissions and 500 million yen ($6.2 million).  A very strong opening indeed, that I could see resulting in 2 million admissions and 2.5 billion yen ($30 million) or better.

Dropping out of the top spot it's second weekend was Gaku, grossing an estimated 191 million yen ($2.4 million), down a healthy 27% from it's opening weekend.

Hankyu Densha improves over last weekend by increasing 6% to raise one position in the rankings.

Also down a spot each were Toho's Spring blockbusters, Gantz Part II: Perfect Answer and Detective Conan: Quarter of Silence.  No figures have been released for the former at this time, but Detective Conan continues it's very impressive run exceeding 2.8 billion yen ($34.75 million) after 30 days in release.

And not to be forgotten before they fall out of the Top 10 with the upcoming release of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Crayon Shin-chan: The Golden Spy Mission and Gulliver's Travels achieve their own milestones this weekend.

Gulliver exceeded 1.5 billion yen ($18.5 million), while Crayon shin-Chan exceeds 1 billion yen ($12 million).

As mention above, the latest Pirates of the Caribbean is opening this weekend on the 20th, and is sure to provide some big results.  You can see the weekly breakdown for the original trilogy in the main forum thread below later today.

I'm surprised how long it took Black Swan to enter the Japanese market.
