I know what you all thinking.  Why am I posting my article early.  Well, I am very busy this weekend with finals and rehearsals staring on Friday morning.  Beside, after going back to back on the Derby, I can let some people cheat this weekend.  Moviegoers will go to church this weekend, with a Bridesmaid and a Priest.

Priest 3D will unleash hell in 2864 church houses.  The concept is pretty high, and Screen Gems does a great job at marketing this type of films, but the star power is pretty low, and the 3D can hurt a bit.  Still, with a lack of scares in the market, this one could take advantage.  I say a 5k pta will do for this, which will be a tad lower than other screen gem scare pics.

The Bridesmaids will try to be the Bride in 2917 chapels.  The marketing is very tricky cause with all female leads, people will assume that this is a chick flick, even though it clearly is not with is raunchy male humor.  This could be a challenge cause the female cast and wedding concept will turn off the men, and the raunchy humor could offend some women.  And with Jumping the Broom and Something Borrowed getting solid starts last weekend, competition for this demo will not be as easy as they thought.  The one saving grace is, however, and excellent reviews this movie is getting, which helps a bunch for the choosy older audiences.  I think this will start off with a moderate pta in the high 4k range, followed by a nice IM with midweeks expected to be big, and declines expected to be low.

Thor will rise to the top again, with a decline lower than the previous summer kickoff films cause of this being a non-sequel.  Fast Five will stabilize a bit this time around.  Something Borrowed has competition, and with Mother's Day inflating last weekend a bit, the decline will be higher than usual for this genre.  Jumping the Broom will suffer mainly because this got the most help from Mother's Day.  The Friday and Saturday declines will be moderate, but Sunday's will be astronomical.  Rio will remain calm until next weekend.  The bottom three films will drop bigger than usual thanks to alot of help on Mother's Day.

Whether you guys want to use my predictions or not, if up to you.  This is the Scottie, signing out, earlier than usual.  Now I need to memorize my lines.

I'm not trying to call you out or anything, but I find the whole "don't let the all-female cast fool you, this has raunchy MALE humor!" angle...odd, lol. Can't there just be a raunchy female-centric film? Do "chick flicks" (not a fan of this term--are Thor and Priest dick flicks?) have to be, like, demure and vanilla?
