The romantic comedy Just Go with It will become a major new movie this weekend. Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston, performing the title role, are one of the most popular comedy actors in Russia. Thus, their previous work Grown Ups and The Bounty Hunter took over the first weekend $2.66M and $2.94M respectively. In Germany, Spain and the UK results were at $ 2-3M. Similar outcome is expected in the domestic box office - $2.74M.
The Russian cartoon "Cucaracha" (http://kino-n-sport.ru/repository/calendar/film/filmid/796) is the widest 3D release now. The budget of adventure cockroaches is $ 4.5M. During school holidays cartoon will be in demand regardless of the quality of the project. The success of "Belka & Strelka. Star Dogs", of course, does not repeat, but earn $1.23M is quite capable.
The fantastic comedy Paul appears on 330 screens. New film starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost is primarily aimed at moviegoers. Upper border as a box office potential can be considered Tucker & Dale vs Evil ($1.38M, 270 screens) and Zombieland ($1.61M, 330 screens). But both of these movies coming in a much more free weekends. The result of Paul will be modest - about $1M, as Race to Witch Mountain in the same weekend two years ago.
"Klyuch Salamandry" will open on 450 cinema screens. Russian-American film is a classic "B-movie" and very likely repeat the result of the similar Russian action movie "The Way" (2009, $0.38M, 332 screens). The budget of this international project is $7M.
The historic action Ironclad is another debutant. The film flopped at the native UK: only $0.085M at 101 theatres. Our audience are a bit more sympathetic to such films. Centurion, which last year also came in without advertising support, took $0.39M at the start. We are waiting for something similar.
