In the last weekend our distributors haven't lost with the release the new films which are very widely submitted in the theaters. Each of them could find an audience. So boxoffice of Top Ten increased immediately by 37%.
The romantic comedy "Sluzhebnyy roman. Nashe vremya" (http://www.kino-n-sport.ru/repository/calendar/film/filmid/638) climbed to first place. As we expected, simple visitors of the theaters didn't lack attention to this very controversial project. Its result reached $5,84M. This is the best numbers among all Russian films this year.
The animated feature film Rango was launched on 1024 screens with a second place and earned $4,45M. Thus, Gore Verbinski's project could not fully repeat the success of DreamWorks Animation, when Monsters vs. Aliens and How to Train Your Dragon (which also came out before the spring school holidays) earned $5,70M and $7,29M respectively for its first weekend. Achieve of chameleon were at the level Up and slightly higher than last year's Despicable Me and Legend of the Guardians. However, this is still the best start of the cartoon in the international box office.
The action-thriller Limitless both in the U.S. went better than forecast, and took $2,87M with serious competition. The film was warmly received by the audience and repeated start The Bounty Hunter with Gerard Butler ($2.94M on 445 screens), which came out last year in the same weekend.
The gothic-romantic tale Red Riding Hood also began briskly in Russia - $1,72M on 455 screens. This is slightly more than The Vampire's Assistant ($1,47M on 297 screens). The per-theater average is comparable to the first part of Twilight.
The holdovers seriously injured from the invasion of nimble debutants. So Battle: Los Angeles lost 66% (Skyline had 65%), Largo Winch 2 dropped by 74% (the first part had 39%). Mars Needs Moms was the stability of all (-47%) as the single representative of 3-D projects.
